Not strings, speakers.

I wanted a cab for low volume playing with my Fryette GPDI. I went front loaded, sealed back with an Eminence Legend 1058.

Out of curiosity I put the GPDI into the Power Station II (it’s a 75 watt speaker) and was floored. Tight, percussive and plenty of bottom end. I just might need a 2x10 or 4x10.

Here's a pic before I put the grill on.

Beautiful...Did you build that cab? A 2X10 would be awesome.

Wow, that's a damned gorgeous cab. I had a 2x10 for awhile with Eminence Ramrods. It was actually a cheap Ampeg cabinet that I replaced the speakers to be more suited for guitar, usually used with a Tiny Terror. It was a great little setup, but I needed bigger cabs and drivers for band use, and went all digital for home practice/writing.

Thank you and yes, I built the cab.

Thanks man. Was the Ampeg front loaded, sealed back?

nice job on that cab, it is beautiful.
I have played through a marshall 4x10, I think they are called 1965?
I thought it sounded great.

Beautiful work! I used to...well..a million years ago used a Marshall 8x10 cab but then..Started gigging and well..you know...hard to schlep around...

Those old Marshall 4x10’s are great.

Not recently, but for a while in the 80s I ran a silverface Super Reverb with 4x10s goosed with a Rat pedal.

I have one of those Marshall 1965 cabs and think it’s awesome. 4x10 closed back cab. Sounds more like a 4x12 to me than any 2x12 I’ve used.

Yeah, a 4x10 would be a bit much but I’ll bet they sound great.

I did the same but used. TC Electronic OD/Boost (still have the TC).

Very nice.

Had one too, gigged with it even, but eventually sold it, since my vertical slanted Mesa 2x12 definitely sounds bigger than the Marshall 4x10 (1965B).
The thing did do wonders for my EVH 50W, as it mellowed the top-end and made the mids juicier.

Still have the 1966A & B cabs (diagonal 2x12"), and play the B cab almost daily with the Savage 60.

By the way, I use the same Eminence Legend 1058 10" in my SFPR.

Gorgeous cab. A solid maple baffle is not something many will have tried.
I’d keep it visible.

Had 4x10s in the past and love their mid range honk.
Sealed back strangled the speaker. Converting to open back let it breathe and bloom.
Pairing with a 12 cab - Greenbacks - was godly.

Nice! Mine’s not broken in yet but I dig it so far.

Definitely on the visible front. Poor lighting but this is the grill I used.

:inlove: WOW. All the custom built ins I do, I should stop by the local exotic lumber store and make a new head shell cabinet for my Mesa MkIII. Beautiful work

You have no excuses not to!

I don't have anything to compare with but I will say this solid Maple made for a fairly heavy 1x10 but it sounds glorious. It sounds good enough that I'm now tempted to see what a cab with a 10 and a 12 sounds like... but I don't need more cabs so it's not high on the priority list.

Luv looking at your woodworking pics. Yeah no excuses. I just dumped 6 grand into some more Festools (Routers, router table etc.)and Leigh DR4Pro dovetail jig. I think it would be cool to do some ISO dovetails with maybe a purple stain (or tyedye   )

Man, I got rid of SO MUCH when I cleared out the woodshop. This cab was a bear to build because I no longer have a planer, jointer... you name it. Granted, I have more than average joe but I'm missing some key machines that make building this stuff quicker, more efficiently and more precisely. I was going to do mitered corners until I realized I couldn't because the 10" wide plank was cupped... no machines/tools to help fix it... alright, let's go a different way!

Dovetails are awesome and would have looked great on my 1x10... no can do anymore.

my eggy 4x10 cabinet was the best sounding cabinet I have owned!
