Anybody use Dougs Tubes Rectifier Metal set?

Ordered the whole kit and kaboodle, minus the Rectifier section. I'm assuming the rectifier section will have little effect on the tone?

Well, I've changed tubes in the past, not in this amp and noticed not one tiny difference. We'll see what happens with this set when it arrives.

The cheapest thing you can do to improve a Recto is put a low gain tube in V1, such as a JJ EC803S in V1. You can then add more gain to compensate and fatten it up at the same time. All those 6L6 tube kits advertised are about the same as the stock rebranded Mesa tubes and you won't be able to tell much difference. If you really want to step up your game with the Rectifier though, go over to Eurotubes and read up/buy an integrated sextet of KT88/KT66. These are matched up to self bias in the 6L6 setting. Tons of headroom and clarity will amaze you.

I put that Eurotube combo in my Roadster. Sounds awesome. I don't think I'll ever go back to the standard 6l6/EL34s in that amp.

I can't remember if it was KT66 or 88, but I heard them in a guys Recto live and recorded. Sounds amazing. I should have investigated as I could never get my Rectos to sound that good. I only replaced with Mesa tubes.
