I have this one from the 80s. I bought it new with my first half stack. X100B. Don't have the head any more, but I still have a thing for that cab.

Any idea how the "reissue" X100B cabs are? They're $399 brand new. I assume a few bucks for shipping too. But, heck I could get two for my "full stereo" wet/dry/wet madness project for the price of one Mesa, VHT or anything else in vougue.

The only downside for me with the new Carvin cabs is, after I runied one of the original speakers, I put in 25 Watt greenback reissues and Carvin only seems to load 'em with V30s or their version/knockoff of greenback reissues.

I have an early Carvin X100B half stack. The head is from 87 or 88. It is their first run with El34 with the tolex. The cab I bought 2 years ago and this is probably early 80s late 70s. The speakers are all thrashed, so I put some celestions in there that I had bought back in 87 and never used. It sounds great. It is only two speakers though. I left 2 of the bad ones in to cover up the holes. The new Carvin cabs are supposed to sound really good. They have celestion Rocket 50s in them. They are made in china and cost about $39.99 each. What I need is the Carvin logo for my cab.

It is funny I was cleaning my amp when I noticed the 6L6 marked where the tubes go. One had El34 I was like what the fuck. Then I realized Carvin used the old 6L6 chassis for the El34s. There are little stickers over the original amp markings. 3 have fallen off and one still shows EL34. Very funny. I do have to say this amp today still kicks ass.

Speaking of which, how are the x100b's?
Tone quality wise, what can you hit?
I assume some type of shred due to its user list.

It's been a long time, I think about '95, since I sold mine. If I recall correctly, it was sorta a wanna-be MkIV-ish. Only 3 preamp tubes. For Modern-ish metal I'd say you will likely need a boost of some kind. Still, I miss that amp. It's one heck of an amp for the money. Channel switching, F/X loop on-off and built-in spring reverb and a bullet proof foot switch.

I have the Carvin V3 cab, built like a tank, very rugged. I am trying to sell it though, can barely fit it into my small car...

gotta choose those small cars carefully. I have a '95 Integra and I can get so much shit in it with the back setas folded down, it's not funny. I can fit a 6-space rack, oversized 4x12, two gutar cases, briefcase of cables & stuff, a few stands and still be able to see out the back window through the rear view mirror.
