I've had them for years, and they were a huge upgrade from what I was using. They don't seem bright to me at all. There's a ton of folks that absolutely hate them on various gear forums however.

If your room isn't treated at all, it should be. It makes an unreal amount of difference with these, and probably every other monitor out there as well.

Good to know, thanks. I was planning on doing some room treatments very soon.

I find them fatiquing and that they don't translate well__ Something strange in the crossover thungy perhaps__ I like the dynaudios much better For the $

Am using the smaller version, a pair of HR624's. have you tried changing the switches in the back for frequency response and acoustic space?

Ive had them for many years now. You can tweak them on the back if you need to....alot depends on your room and placement. Mine translate really well and don't sound bright. Play some cds thru them that you are familiar with and tweak them.

You allways amaize me. Good idea, I'll try that.

Has anyone tried these, wonder if they are worth it or is it just snake oil?

Used to have a pair in a studio, I think they require some time to learn and learn how your mixes translate a bit on them more so then others. sound good though.

Definitely over-exaggerated in the high mids. I know people who were long time users who switched to Focals or Events, and said the upgrade was the best thing they've ever done.

I went thru the same thing with mine...had a hard time with them. Spend some time with the back panel and you can flatten them out pretty well.

I had a pair of the old Event 20/20bas that were very nice and would switch between them. Kept the Mackies...they translate really well for me, but were tricky to get dialed in. If I add another pair, it will be some NS10s...cant believe I just typed that. :)

IMO, You can't adjust them to "good" they are whack__They will always be so.. but in the ballpark enough to be a useful "starter speaker" (I hate! that speaker personally..)but now with SO MANY options-- they are not the best for their price point -- whatever the dyns are that have the 7" driver(metric but just over 7") Is the one I would have instead of the Mackie __ The translation game is won through having several things to try cars -stereos- boomboxes etc. ---

After ALOT of that -- You can start to anticipate it on a set of speakers you know -- Then it gets more fun.. BUT A speaker like that Mackie is SO difficult (for me) to know they are worse then useless.. Sorryfor the harsh opinion! I have advised lots of people to dump them.. they NEVER go back..
