Anyone compare the 500T or Duncan SH6 to the BKP Aftermath?

I've got an Explorer that I want to use for metal. Right now it's got an SH-6 in it, and I love the sound, but I figure a little experimenting couldn't hurt. I've got a 500T coming in the mail and will try that when it arrives, but in the meantime am wondering if anyone has gotten the chance to compare either it or the SH-6 to the BKP Aftermath.

I'm looking for something with a massive, middy sound. The modern metal clip on the BKP website is pretty much what I'm going for, but after reading this guy's take on the Aftermath, I'm just wondering what some other opinions are.
 
Unfortunately that guy who was talking about the aftermath was using a TSL100, one of the shittiest Marshall's ever made for high gain. No pickup would polish that turd. Killed all his references for me.

Go into any GC to hear an Explorer with a 500T. It's the stock pickup.

Ah, thanks, I missed that. It's really the Aftermath I'm interested in. Think I'll just order one and try it.

+1. I made the mistake years ago of buying a TSL 60: one of the worst high gainers ever!

The 500T is an awesome metal pickup, but it is not super strong in the mids, it's got a lot of highs and lows, and even feels a bit scooped. Regardless, it's tight on the low end and sounds great in my explorer. The Duncan Distortion is actually pretty strong in the mids, you don't like it?

I really like it! I do love to experiment with different setups though, and of all ceramic pickups I've heard, the Aftermath stands out the most as something different.

How do you like your Explorer / 500T with the Rectifier?
 
I know you don't mean me but I had a great experience with a 500T into a roadster. I was buying a Flying V that had the 500T and ended up playing through a Roadster at length and it sounded amazing. I've never gotten great results out of a roadster before but it loves a hot ceramic pickup. The Brit channel and 3&4 all sounded fantastic.
 
I just got around to putting a 500T in my Explorer, and my preference is towards the Distortion so far. Like RJF mentioned, the 500T isn't too string in the mids, and I like mids. I'm going to try it out for a while longer, but so far, the Distortion sounds better to me.

On another note - since I don't have any spare passive neck pickups at the moment - I threw the Distortion into the neck and it sounds awesome!!! Mid heavy but not ridiculous, and no mud at all; just a huge, clear tone! I'm going to try some other things, but when all is said and done, I might actually keep the Distortion in the neck.
