Anyone compare the JVM to the Soldano Avenger?

I'm looking for a head to use with my current band. We play a blend of hard rock, stoner rock, metal, whatever the fuck. I need a BIG British sounding amp.

I have been set on the Avenger for a while, but am also tempted to get the two channel JVM. It would be way more versatile, has a loop, has MIDI switching, etc, etc. I was going to go with a two amp setup, but might not have to with the JVM. I used to have a 410H, but never tried the Soldano.

What say you?

Ihave 27frets(Pete) had them both at the same time. He could tell you.

I think there would be a big difference in compression between those two amps. I thought the JVM 210 was very compressed, but I still liked it. The Soldano will sound more open and raw.

How about the Egnater Renegade? Its 2 channels, only $999 and was one of my favorite amps at NAMM. Other slightly more expensive good choices would be Bogner Shiva or a Soldano Hot Rod + for two channels.

I really enjoy the Soldano Avenger. We had one here at our shop for a while. Straight ahead rock machine that was open and aggressive. Fantastic amp. I have not yet played a JVM, so can't help ya there.

For me it's a non contest in terms of tone. The Soldano eats the JVM alive.
If you need versatility and can afford to give a little of tone then the JVM isnt a bad option.
I dont like how its built and I think that the controls are redundant but never the less it's a decent choice for some

I would take the Avenger in a heartbeat Joe. Sorry i haven't made any clips yet, but I've been swamped.

You need to get your ass to my place to play it :)

Thanks for the replies fellas!

The JVM was an option mainly because of it's versatility. I have a feeling when I play the Avenger my mind will be made up, but I just wanted to get some opinions from you guys. I will most likely go with a two amp setup. No reason to sacrifice tone! I've been dying to try the Soldano!

Paige! No worries about the clip man. I've been hella busy as well. Yeah man, I shall make my way over some time to try it out.

Oh, and I've decided I'm just not into the Egnater tone really. I've owned a MOD 50 and a Rebel and just can't get into it. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Yeah, Paiges Soldano sounds a lot better than the JVM IMHO. Just not as versatile.

i love my avenger, itsw pretty cool, i had a couple jvm but didnt really like them.

They are NOTHING alike. I'm not gonna go in much detail but I'd take Avenger over zillions of amps out there eyes closed. Just cause it sounds extremely similar to Cornford MK50h and it is pretty much my favorite amp ever.

If you like JVM style tone however, Avenger won't cover it at all. Like I said, very different. You gotta play them both man.
