I was just running some tests last night to see if I could get a good reamp setup going and I compared three DI going in through my Audient ID14 and into Mixbus;
Audient DI
Two Notes Reload DI
Radial passive Pro-DI
The Radial has a pad to knock it down if needed but it is fine without it engaged. Oddly enough, I feel the other two need a PAD rather than the radial. They come in damn hot! It seems like I had to set the input gain at like 2 for the first two where as the radial I can turn it up to 6 or 7. Listening back and trying to match the levels, it feels like the radial might be the most natural as it doesn't feel pushed and almost at the verge of peaking. Will be interesting to see how they (if at all) each affect the sound of the amp when compared with the sound of the guitar plugged right in. Anyone else find the stand alone DI box to be better for this sort of thing? It still seems to be the classic approach for reamping. Play a live take with the thru on the passive box to the amp while sending the DI into the DAW. I play better through a real amp anyway. Modellers with a DI don't capture the dynamics the same way.
