Funny, I was listening to Up From the Ashes Sunday after years, and thought, "Lynch never sounded this good, and Lynch is not the player Norum is". Now, I've been a Lynch fanboy for years, but I've become a huge Norum fan as well, over the past 2-3 years. I have all of his solo albums. Norum is a beast.
His tone, whether Strat, or LP, is consistently some of the best tones I've ever heard. Here's his rundown. Great list of amps, but his core tone is that 1987 2205 that belonged to Michael Schenker:
