Anyone ever buy a used guitar on ebay?

I bought a 1991 ibanez RG of ebay a little over a week ago and just got the RG today.(took the guy 4 days before he even shipped it)
The guitar was listed as needing pots and knobs which for me is no big deal
it was also listed as having a straight neck and a low action no major issues.(i even spoke to the guy on the phone and asked him about fret buzz)
The RG was shown as white in the pics' but came looking like it was in the same room as a chain smoker for 30 years(yellowed is a understatement) I would not have bought it had i seen this in pics, does this look white or cream to you? here are some auction pic's

And the neck has really bad fret buzz on every note past the 15th fret.
I adjusted the neck and it is as it should be(slight relief of .010) but still buzzes like mad
another thing is the guitar did not come with the pu's it was listed in the auction as having.
My question is does ebay cover a guitar that is different than what was in the sellers description if it is a used guitar?
I know they cover new items with no problem.

so should i just go ahead and submit the claim now that i have spoke to the seller?
the seller knows what he told me right over the phone and more importantly what is in print on his description for the auction

What kind of climate did it come from and did it ship thru any very cold weather, Winter weather can play havoc on guitars, actions, fret buzz etc but its sounds like maybe it's just a turd.

guitar was shipped from from ILLINOIS. i am in NJ the seller assured me there were no buzzing issues.
I told him i play with a low action and there cant be excessive buzz
the problem is all the notes above the 15th fret buzz out real bad.
some are dead notes and wont even ring/sustain.
I told him i had been after a WHITE RG550 and he never mentioned once the color was badly yellowed
making the normal RG white a ugly cream and it is uneven,darker in some areas than others.
as it stands now if i were to keep it,it needs a refinish,pots,switch,knobs,trem bar,fret level and dress
and a final set up to restore it to a great player.
Much more $$$ having to go into it than i had been led to believe by the seller before buying it,

eBay/PayPal will take care of this if the seller won't. They protect the buyer to a fault. Technically you have 6 months to make the claim and they would still force the seller to take the return and refund your full purchase amount.

I think there is a bit of a yellowing in the photos (possibly only because I'm specifically looking for it), but I think you still have plenty of grounds for the guitar not being as described due to it having different pickups than pictured/described.

yeah it happens and i have gotten a few great guitars on ebay.
This is my first time with not getting what i was told i was getting.

Bought a Snakeskin BC Rich assassin years ago, and it showed up with the back of the neck spray painted black. I actually paid a pro to sand it perfect back to natural. Fuckin I was pissed. Looked killer from the front. No pics of the back but listed perfect.

what floored me was in person when i took it out of the box it was so yellowed?
I could not believe it it was literally another color than what i saw in those pics.

OUCH! yeah that is not cool at all when they dont list it in the description or at least

Thats a bummer... I've bought 4 guitars off of ebay so far with one being sent from Japan even and had decent luck... I worried about temperature/ climate changes as mentioned from someone else cause I heard that can wreak havok on the neck in some cases. If I was unhappy and had a chance to return I'd probably do just that. Good luck!

Is the yellowing from tartar? That can possibly be cleaned off with a good polish cleaner like guitar scratch remover Blue and Red which is really good shit! If the neck is not twisted, I would rather get a guitar with some fret issues, as long as they are not worn. Better to get the frets in original condition than to have had them leveled a few times.

That buzzing can be fixed with setup. I have gotten guitars with unnecessary shims under nuts and neck pockets causing issues. Fret work needed, etc.. Allot of techs add shims when they don't need to and many don't know how to level frets correctly and wind up taking way more off than what is needed. Allot of the times not much is needed. That marker method you see online is a joke. That is why I became my own tech. I do some really good fretwork. I won't do refrets but levels, crown, and polish I enjoy.

If it can be fixed maybe you can get allot of money back. Sometimes a seller doesn't want the hassle and will just pay you.

past the 15th fret where the neck joins the body. I have seen this before on RG's but it is not real common.
The only resolve is a level and recrowning of the frets.

Just start the return. If he doesn't agree, you then ask Ebay to escalate. After so many days the option pops up.

I tried numerous messages with him and He is stating i am exaggerating and i am just not 100% happy with the guitar?
But my favorite part is when he stated i DID receive the guitar that was in the description?
Is a guitar with different pu's than what it is listed to have in it, a guitar that is exactly as described?
I will snap a few pics and start the claim today. the seller is not going to just refund the $$$.
