What I mean is, do you feel like your fighting with it to get a tone your happy with? Or that it's just not quite right, or ...........

I got an amp I've been fighting with like crazy, it's driving me crazy, I can hear the basic tone in there, but it's just not quite getting me where I wanna be. Even swapped pick-ups, tried Duncan, Anderson, EMG, different guitars, still not there. :bash:

Nope...  ;)

That's a drag, Mike....I know how stoked you were to get that thing, too..

As others have said....might not be for you...especially if you like the Randall better...I'd move on.....

Are you laughing at a guy who just blew 4300 on this stuff, Braddah Zach?

No, not at all. I was laughing because I have so much gear and Pat (mentoneman, has always razzed me that I have the best luck finding great amps, that I end up keeping forever). AND... Juggernaut knows that I have a strange sense of humor, and can relate to the quest.

If it doesn't have SED power tubes, that's about the only thing left to try. Guessing it has chinese preamp tubes, so not much to do there but play around with V1. I don't like H30's, but that's what Mark likes with it, so who knows there?

That said, it may very well not be your cup of tea?

Hate to say it, but your Randall clip sounds a little better for what you play. Used to think you sounded best with the Mako, but now your zoom clips quality is better, so hard to compare to the old amps.

It has the =C='s...it was my amp, and I loved it...just don't think it works for him....bummer.

Got a tov for sale in the classified section :D
I picked a vht Cl 100 today and its the sound I've always heard in my head. I have a ultralead as well and there's something about this Cl I just love!!
If you like the ul check one out, they can be had very cheaply.

Not into combo amps, thanks though, wanna sell the UL "cheaply" ;)

Those amps don't sound good imo.....that said here is my finding on new amps/cabs. Just like guitars they take time to settle in and will sound better down the road. Same thing with speakers/cabs. The wood needs vibrations going thru them for awhile and speakers need broken in. The stuff may still not be the sound you want, but it will be different.

With the amp you have to beat the transformers for awhile.

Oh and H30's stink too. :)

What your realizing is you've tried the "top of the heap"...something that you thought would get you that extra bit of whatever it is your chasing, and your realizing that a lot of them time, the price-tag and hype surrounding an amp doesn't mean shit :)

And don't get a JVM, if you don't dig the Cameron, you'll hate the JVM, it's pretty much a completely sterile and noisy version of the CCV (that's a VERY loose comparison, don't jump down my throat guys)...

You also have to remember you have a disease, amp whoring will always get the best of you, whether it takes weeks, months, or years...

I spent 10's of thousands on amps only to realize I would never be happy, went the Axe-II route and was SUPER stoked, only to realize even that was a bit too much, just ordered a Kemper and gonna stick with profiles, at this moment I literally haven't owned a tube amp for almost a year... feels good too.

Hope you find what your looking for, or better yet, realize what your looking for your never gonna find :)

George knows his shit, Seriously I've tried shit I normally would hate due to him and he has not steered me wrong yet, Im like 3 miles down the road from him if that, and his a wizard on shit as far as setup's and shit. George has modded and fixed my shit for years.

But on a side note George's favorite amps are Mesa/Boogies and he prefers them with V30's

Interesting video of the TOV you posted. You think you are a Recto person?

For some reason I keep ending up with a tone something like this on mine

Could be a phase also. I have been having this phase where nothing really sounds good...

LOL Tone for minutes...funny, Got another Triamp on the way I'll have to either drop it off at your place or the store so you can put it through its paces. Can't remember if you cared for the H&K voicing or not.

Yeah, one day everything sounds great then another day it sounds just shy of great. I've heard it can be power voltage issues from the plug at the wall and that a constant power supply can correct the issue but I've never tried one.
