Anyone ever tried one of these? Jose preamp in a pedal

Sounds cool but what a cumbersome device to have to deal with when you can just get an already made pedal for that sound. They are out there. Still, interesting and a cool project.

Cool idea and I appreciate their effort.

The V2 plugin Cameron made for me is way easier and personally I think sounds better.

sounds like it can sound ok, tough to tell from this awful demo though

OK, Great!
Dude made an exact clone of the preamp in a lackluster sounding Jose modded Marshall.
That's the guy from 3 Monkeys amps and the Jose Marshall he cloned the preamp from belongs to Brad Whitford of Aerosmith.
There's a few videos out there of the amp in question and they don't sound any better than this thing.
God bless Jose, the guy was a trailblazer and way ahead of his time for sure, but guys like Cameron, Fortin, Gower, and a bunch more have taken that ball and run with it, and made way better sounding amps than that Ossie / Whitford Jose.
I'm not sayin' there aren't some killer sounding Jose modded Marshall's out there, but this ain't one of 'em.
YMMV

Hmmm, I thought the demo sounded pretty darn good. I think it’s super cool too. However, I take demos made with an OX Box or similar with a bit of skepticism. I would totally buy that preamp though if it were readily available and I could afford it.

Cameron - Where can you get his amps? How long is the wait? :D
Fortin - Larry? Has Fortin designed anything that was actually his? I honestly don't know.
Gower - He is legit. I like him.

Plenty of Jose options these days.

One limitation of many of these copies (like Ceriatone, Sabot, modded Marshalls) is that they are single-channel, sometimes with only one input. And imo they generally don't clean up that well. So having it in pedal form is nice. But does it actually sound better than a BE-OD?

It's essentially an amp out of the chassis on the floor though... I think an SD-1 is more convenient ! But it does sound good no question.

Like a revamped hotmod? Any chance we can get a demo of that? Sounds like something Cameron could build fairly easily and deliver without issues. He should get on that

Agree.

I also wonder how much noise that thing emanates to pedals around it? Some wahs for example are super sensitive to other things placed nearby and I would think that power supply would put off some noise. I can't even put a Carl Martin compressor or EH Deluxe Memory Man (both with internal power and 120v power cords) near my Teese wah or it's noisy as hell.
