Hi guys, looking at a cool Historic Les Paul on Ebay in Japan...price isn't too bad...but was wondering if all I have to worry about is shipping...I've had small things sent from Japan without having to pay anything like import duties, etc...but never something as much as a Historic

Anyone ever bought a Historic from Japan and had to pay anything extra?

I'm looking at a Historic too -what store are you looking at?

I'm not in the US, but I've shipped guitars there from both the UK and Canada. As I understand and have experienced it, if the item is US made, then there are no taxes due - the sender needs to state clearly that it's made in the US though, and ideally put the serial number down. However, you MIGHT get hit with some BS admin fee - one time UPS did that to a shipment I sent, but it was like $40 as I recall.

Thanks for the great info!
it's with nin-japan-net...it looks like Japan has all the great Historics...lol

I bought an Edwards V from Rakuten In Japan and did not get hit with any additional fees, taxes, duties, etc. I paid $140 for shipping, and the USPS lost my package for 25 days, but I didn't pay any additional fees.

I've bought 3 older MIJ LP's from Meestursparkle on ebay in the last 3 years and some other seller (Japanese guitar store) and 2 times I got the guitars within 4 days from Japan to the central US with no holds or customs and the 3rd time took 6 days. Boxes looked brand new still when I got them with little to no wear. All 3 guitars were early 80's guitars and had perfect setups and such. Will buy more guitars for sure in the Future from Japan.

Great info...makes me feel better...thanks!

I've had 6 J Customs shipped to me from Meestursparkle (James) over the last 8 years. Always fabulous. My recent one came in 3 days, no duty or taxes.

That guy uses about 100 feet of bubble wrap on a guitar   . Give or take.

Yep, this x a billion. I ordered my late 80's Burny LP from Meestursparkle and it was at my door in 4 days. Packed so well it actually took me awhile to get through the packing to get to the guitar!

I bought a Jackson Kelly from Meestursparkle several years ago, quick shipping to the USA with zero issues.
