I told Dave I wanted the extra gain and mv mods done to my Marshall. I was wondering if anyone has had these done and how much you like them? I'll be doing alot of bedroom playing/recording so figured it would work well.

When I turn on my second MV I get added volume and gain. Works great for solo's. I'd highly recommend it.

Thanks man! Yeah, a little more gain never hurt anyone. :)

We're not talking over the top gain, but a tad more and he voiced it slightly different with more upper mids that works great to fatten up single notes.

I get what you are aiming at. Trust me, I'm an 80's metal guy so I'm not looking for jaw-rattling Uberschall type gain. I come from the Marshall camp so I've always been looking for hot-rodded Marshall tones. I've had three Splawns over the past seven years or so. I had a Splawn modded JCM 800, then a Splawn Competition, and now a Splawn modded 1959 SLP Reissue I bought from a friend. Don't get me wrong, I like the Splawn tones, but looking for something heavier sounding.

When I started hearing clips of Dave's mods, I was pretty excited because I had been interested in getting a Cameron modded Marshall ever since I began my Doug Aldrich kick around 2004-2005. Of course it was near impossible to find one and I didn't think I would find anything with the same ability to get that nice saturation, etc.

Really I think the Brown Eye would probably have enough gain for me but I figured if I'm going to get it modded, might as well get the whole thing done. :)

Go with the BE, C45, Saturation, and Solo boost and you'll be set.

Thanks. Hey I forgot to ask you how the Marsha tones compare with your Cameron amps? I've heard a Cameron in person but never a Marsha. Just curious if there is a certain tone difference you can put your finger on.

I don't have a Marsha, but I have owned 2 Friedman modded Marshall's. I would say the Cameron Jose Mod is closest to the Friedman mods but the Marshall tone seems to be retained more in the Friedman. Dave's mods clean up butter with the guitar's volume too. I wouldn't say either is better because they're different. It's all what you prefer. I like both......that's why I own both.

Thanks man! I'm late to this post. :) That is great. I sent my Marshall 1959SLP Reissue to Dave so that is the one I'm having modded. I'm glad you mentioned that it retains the Marshall tone a bit.

Don't worry, I guarantee you'll love your amp when you get it back. Dave's work sounds awesome and is very consistant.
