Hopefully I'll get to try 6.0 soon with my friend's Axe 2. I'm going to try the Kemper but a big part of me still wants an Axe 2 lol. We'll see what happens.....30 day return policy for the Kemper......and I'm still in line for the coupon... ;)
YOu can always profile your fav patches in your buddies axe fx. Probably would work great

i have 6.0 running and I must admit, its a huge improvment. Usually I can't tell a big difference but this one is awesome. The tone matching is outstanding and very easy to use.

Would clips really translate that well over the net? Every Pre/amp I bought always sound many times better than on YouTube. :D

I'm sitting on the front steps waiting for the UPS man. He is about 30 min late :gethim:

I ran the new 6 last night and a bit today. Screwed up a couple of my own presets, but nothing I can't handle.

Everything else sounded terrific, with what limited patches I was playing through.

FWIW,

Clips is better then saying it sounds good with no examples ;-) Just record a file direct an post to a site that does well with playback.

I don't like room camera micd sounds a those really are no help. But a recorded track does

Upgraded mine today but I use it mainly as a F/X box for my VH4
The few patches I played with sounded pretty good I guess, Im spoiled to my VH4 now though.

played around with the TM with a TOOL song and Chevelle song, damn close to my worn out ears.
Looking forward to trying the TM on my VH4 and cab, if that turns out well ill post some clips.

6.0 did trash all my F/X patches and I cant figure out whats wrong.......I have signal going into the Axe from my amp's send but none making the trip back into the return..........Happy I am not!!

Here's a fast and dirty TM of Bark At The Moon...I know I know but it's a standard tune that everyone knows.

I did this super fast and didn't bother trying to add the weird little modulation thing from the original tracks.

The first part of the clip is the original track, then a stop then my attempt. I should have pulled back the bottom end slightly on my preset.

ok 45 min late...
It came with v5.06 so I upgraded it to V6. Hooked up the USB, already had the drivers installed on my Mac Air, hit the button and it literally took 1 1/2-2 minutes. Wow that part was a lot faster.

A quick scroll through… The Cameron sounded better along with the Friedman HBE, BE and Bassman.

Haven't had a chance to mess with Tone Match yet. After installing it in the rack I had to go the store and then eat dinner :aww:

I'm really bad at putting together clips, but I might try something today. I Tone Matched at least 10 metal albums yesterday, including a section of Entombed's Wolverine Blue... and I was stunned that the Axe FX was actually able to replicate that heavy, gnarly HM2 sound (of which I'm a HUGE fan). I'll see what I can do, but no promises.

Also, although I was unimpressed with the changes to my usual presets, after redialing and changing them, I've noticed that some knobs have a broader range and that makes it easier to find sweet spots. The 6.0 firmware is actually quite amazing. I've never heard a difference from previous upgrades, but this one is huge, and the tone matching capability is stunning... which I'm sure will only be improved down the road.

The downside though, it that my Axe FX has had a couple of glitches since yesterday. It has frozen up and caused static sound twice, immediately after tone matching something. I'm sure Cliff will get on the ball and quickly release 6.1 to repair any bugs floating around.

Sounds badass. How does that all work? First of all did you isolate the guitar track on the song and if so what did you use for that? Secondly does the Axe 2 just choose the appropriate amp model automatically and/or stomp boxes like an OD or something when you tone match?

Are you isolating the guitar tracks? What are you using for that if so? I've never done that stuff so just asking thanks.

I found the isolated track on YT. Make a basic preset with Amp and cab blocks get and get sound in the general vicinity of the track(very general), add Tone Match block to preset. Feed isolated guitar track of choice into the AxeFx via USB, choose USB as the INPUT on the AxeFx, press X on the front panel press X again after a few secs, change INPUT on Axe to front panel press Y on front panel, play for a few secs, press Y again. Press ENTER on Axe FX front panel. Change to next page in TM block tweak if necessary. Save bingo done.
Easy as pie.

Thanks Mark, that's what I need to hear. Just the quick and easy procedure. Question, how isolated does the guitar track need to be for good results? I mean can you use a CD or do the other instruments screw with the tone matching?

I finally got to the upgrade, no time to play with it yet. This will really help, thanks again.

So I suppose in and of itself, this is pretty fuckin' incredible technology. But outside of the immediate 'family of froth' with the Axe-II camp, this is more than likely a very direct face-to-face with the Kemper scene, no?

I've got the day off today - I'm going to his this shit hard.

Peace
