I'm using the VH4 right now, it run with 6550. It sounds really good with my PRS (Standard E tuning).

But after I try some of my guitars which set in Drop C tuning, and I just found out that the CH3 from VH4 comes a bit fuzzy, I had already spend a lots of time to dial it right. So I was disapointed about my VH4 for few days, but last night I try to use my Maxon OD-808 ( set the Gain at 0, and put the Tone & Volume at noon ) and sounds really nice!!

The bass/mid fuzzy just gone, and become more focus, really tight sounding!!

So anyone here also boost (or using EQ pedal) your Diezel amp (VH4 & Herbert)?? Please share some info!! :)

VH4S user here...
I'm still in testing and tweaking mode, but have tried these with some awesome (but varied) results:
Analogman Sunlion (inc. the Beano boost channel)
Analogman TS-808 (with silver mod)
Both of these pedals allow for selectable frequency boosting and the highs boosting is the most useful since my amp is 6L6 darker to start with. As you've noted, Ch3 welcomes this, but so does Ch2. They allow for a bit more welcomed crunch and definition control.

The fuzz circuit in the Sunlion is almost uncontrollable in Ch3. Almost...

I've also been trying to get my Analogman Bi-CompRosser to work with Channel 1 to get that Dire Sraits sound (yeah, yeah I know - very strange goal for a Diezel user) but so far it ain't happenin' (gotta keep my little TopHat amp or the Rivera S120 for that sound I guess).

I am waiting for my backordered Analogman (notice a trend here?) King of Tone pedal to arrive this summer expecting even more good things to happen in the pre-boost tonal department. These pedals are wicked sick when used with more vintage style amps but perhaps there's a place for them in Diezelville as well...

Cheers!

I boost my lead sounds (channel 3) on Herbert with a Lovepedal Eternity.

just recently got a fulltone ocd, use it with drive all the way down and volume all the way up on my herbert, this allows me to run amp gain lower but still retain the sustain and compression and feel as if the gain was higher, resulting in a fatter tone that is easier to acheive the lukather style "soaring" lead.

p.s. all of my clips are without boosts though

I use an Analogman Moded oD-9 from time to time with my Herbert.

i sometimes use a 4 knob keeley compressor.

i set the compressio low, attack high, and volume high for just a touch of thickness.

it can cop some great eric johnson tones on channel 2 of my herbert!

I use a Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde overdrive/distortion stomp box to boost my Einstein 50. It's a perfect mariage because I can get lots of different textures from the same channel by having two different configurations on the J&H and combining its 2 independent channels.

It was the best way I found to get around the limitation of not being able to switch between modes in channel 1 via foot control.
