It seems pretty weird if the RJM can´t handle a typical line out impedance, and that´s not really what the manual says either:

"A note on signal impedance: The Mini Line Mixer is designed to work with low impedance signals, like
those in an amplifier’s effects loop. In order to use it with a high impedance signal like an unamplified
guitar signal, the signal needs to go through a buffer before reaching the Mini Line Mixer."

So, yeah, you need that buffer if you´re running your passive guitar straight into it, otherwise not.

I guess I must have misunderstood it to mean Effects level vs Line Level. But it works well with Tone Saver and you either need a splitter like that or Y cable

So if I get the RJM I will need to get the Tone Saver. At this point I think I’ll wait for the ML Custom mixer.

Why would you need that? You won't need the buffering and you can split low impedance signals with Y-cables just fine to feed the FX. That's all the EXT jacks on a CAE or Mark L does too, basically, since they are passive splits. I´d say the main thing is if you need the two mix stages or not.

Yes, a line out on a amp is very low impedance and can drive many things. You can put 2 Rjm’s together and you have 7 stereo inputs ( 1 us used connecting the 2). This configuration would then be the same a a CAE mixer or MarkL .. you just dont have the expand outs but you can use y cables with no issues.. or make a little spitter box or use your switcher etc.

I definitely don’t recommend MLC. He'll insist to pay him before the order is done. You may as well throw your money into the trash. I payed him to cut and solder 20 cables and was told that I'll have them in 1 week, but I was waiting almost 3 months (sic!). Sending enquiries every week, with zero response. It's not that he is so busy, it could be all easily done in 1-2 hours. It's that, once he is being payed, he doesn't give a shit about your order. And I'm from Poland like he is, so there are no ridiculous, bullshit excuses about “delays with international shipping”. To my surprise, after I resigned and wanted my money back I finally received the cables instead... But they were different from what I've ordered. It was a mixed bag of cheap chinese plugs with no brand name.

Also MLC loop switcher is not "perfectly transparent" as he advertises on his website. It has a tone suck and you always hear that 5-10% of difference in sound being “filtered”, compared to pedals being connected straight to the amp. And you hear it on every pedal you connect. Some of my overdrives didn't sound right with it. So I sold the switcher and kept my overdrives. Don’t be fooled by the cheap marketing.

Also my new dual mixer stopped working after two months of use and MLC didn’t want to repair it. Despite its warranty. So I had to pay my amp tech to repair it. It turned out that integrated circuit failed.

Be suspicious of any technical information that you receive from the guy, bc he loves to give people false information in order to sell his product at all costs. Definitely not somebody that can be trusted.
