Hello everyone,
This is no spam, you'll understand immediately why.
I've ordered a rivera knucklehead which I should recieve
in mid april and while I really like the sound that the rivera
produces - I also really like the sound of the uberschall -
alot of low mids, really dark sounding and raw high gain
tone - I just wondered, since the rivera is a really flexible amp
and it has alot of low mid thing to it too, can anyone here
who tried it too say how it compared to he's uberschall
and if he tried to get out of it the same vibe that the uber
has?

Thanks everyone,
Daniel.

I think you'll get a lot more responses in the general Rig-Talk area. I've moved your thread there.

For what it's worth, I've had one of the Rivera KH Reverbs and I absolutely hated it. Nice cleans but the gain side of things were muddy and flubby.

Just my .02

Rivera KR100 is what Slipknot uses. Sounds decent to me...

As I said in our PM's, I had a different experience then JB, though the dude IS a master of tone, so do not count his views on the amp out. I have yet to use an KR in a live setting, all of my experience is in-studio.

I've had one for a few years and have been back and forth on it alot. I've thought about getting rid of it for the last couple of years, but there's not really a local market for an amp like that around here. Everyone always wanted to trade me clean and bluesy combos. The clean side is pretty amazing, and channels 2 and 3 can be pretty mean if dialed right. However, the amp lacks consistency and I always have felt like I'm fighting with it, kind of like I felt with the Mesa Single Recto I had. Watch for the Flub. I've always had to boost the highs a good bit and tame the lows. One day it sounds great, the next like horse piss though and I'd be fighting with the EQ. I've been running a Pod X3 Pro into the FX return lately, and it seems to have a great poweramp. This has bypassed the pre-amp inconsistency for me and allowed me to tame the volume a bit for when it's at home. To me, the cabinet is amazing, too. Solidly built and sounds great for down-tuning as well.

It's not like I'm not trusting your word but I just wanted
more input and opinions from more people, hope you
understand.
You know it's weird to hear such bad comments about
the amp when you know that joe baressi and slipknot
are using it constantly.
I'm not saying that the opinions of those who commented
negatively about the amp are wrong, but it's really weird how
many mixed opinions I've heard about it.

Ha, no, no, no, I was saying not to discount JB's opinion. Dude knows what he's talking about, and I'm sure he has more experience "in the room" instead of just studio time like I do.

The Uberschall and the Knucklehead Reverb are TOTALLY different types of heads imho. The strong point of the KR is the clean channel. It is excellent! The Uber's strong point is it's monster high gain channel. If you 're looking for Uber type high gain, you will likely be disappointed. I know I was.

See, we used an Uberschall and a KR100 side by side in the studio (6L6 version of the KR), and they sat together really well. The KR had no problem keeping up, much less of a problem then my Dual Recto. The EQ controls are amazingly responsive.

I think there's a big chance that the el34's on the rivera made it
sound abit harsh to people.
I guess that aside of jordon everyone are using it with
el34's and not 6L6's.
I know the uber has el34's but I guess that the rivera is
voiced with alot of highs that the 6L6's maybe smooths
abit.
Another thing that is possible is that people stick to
channel 3 for high gain sounds which seems to be voiced with alot of highs
and not enough mids, my experience with the fandango's 2nd channel
(which is the same channel as the 2nd channel of the kr) is that if you
boost it and really max the gain, and lower the focus control, you'll
get that more warm sounding tone that I guess people missed in channel
3.

It is ineed a very trebly amp. But it wasn't too hard to get it dark.

I have played 3 different Rivera's the KHR was one of them .
If you are looking for super tight fast attack and percussive amps this is NOT the one IMO .

the word Swampy comes to mind, basically if VHT is to like a megadeth ,Metallica type tone .I would say the Rivera would be more Black sabbath

This is really no my experience with rivera, although I like
my tone to be more open sounding and not really tight.
Did you try to turn the focus knob? cause with the focus on
7 there's no chance yu'll say the word swampy on that amp.
The sound I'd like to get out if it is more in the direction
of stone sour(which I actually think that sucks), slipknot, sikth.

I tried a combo version of this amp. It has a great sound, but I had to have the bass on 2 to get the sound that I was after. I would probably lead towards the fandango if I were to get a Rivera, but I only played it for about 15-20 min so I can't give a very detailed opinion.

So....does this mean nobody's gonna want my K-Tre whenn I'm done with it??   :scared: :scared:
