i am using one of the Rivera/GCS-1 loop/channel switching/midi pedal's 1/4" outputs,
connected to the TG's switching input via 1/4" stereo TRS cable,

to change between the 3 channels on the TG but it is kinda random how the channels switch.

I try to program every switch combination into the pedal:

0/0
1/0
0/1
1/1

but can't seem to line up the logic of the board's switching jack "states" with the channels 1 for 1, yet after several button presses through the various combinations i eventually get the preamp to switch across all channels.

anyone have experience with the TG swithching as i cannot find a manual for it? while i'm at it, any luck with midi programming?

I never used the jacks for switching, but the MIDI is just a repeating pattern of PG numbers; PG1 is ch1, PG2 is ch2, PG3 is ch3 and then we´re back to ch1 with PG4.

no luck as bogner, hafler, and even voodoo amps that used to mod this preamp no longer support it.

has anyone here used it with midi switching?

Yeah, as far as I could tell when I had one there´s no MIDI programming as such, it just switches according to the PG number it sees like in my post above.

Just so I understand, you're using the 1/4" jacks, correct ?

at the moment i am but i would try midi on it if i knew how to store program changes to it

i can hook up my gsc-1's switching jack to it with a 1/4" TRS cable

and if i toggle through all states of my gsc (+ +, + _, _ +, _ _)
i can eventually make the thing switch through all channels, but it does not correspond exactly 1:1 to any setting

i wish i could send this thing to peter diezel or bruce egnater to iron out the switch correctly and give her a steroid tweak while there because generally speaking it sounds really good in an 80s metal way but could use a 2017 guru facelift!

sorry dave L i didn't see your post before pauly,

so if i use midi, does that mean i just need to store a 1/2/3 at the pedal to send to the pre?

and is there a specific midi channel number or is it an omni thing?

The 1/4" jacks are weird for sure, a TRS cable and a little wire with an alligator clip at each end will help you figure it out, it's been a LONG time since I had mine, but from what I remember one of the channels is "always" on and the switch only toggles to a different channel, meaning that if the other channel isn't on it defaults to the main one, the 3rd channel can be selected the "regular" way, I don't know a better way to describe it...sorry. You can try The Tone Dr in Texas for upgrades, Google him, guy's first name is Lance. I know the schematic shows 1/2 of an unused triode in there that would make a nice gain boost. Good luck with it.

EDIT: A 1/4" stereo cable and the alligator clip wire will show you...

You can select MIDI channel on the back, if I remember correctly, and yeah - it just switches in a predetermined way according to the program change that you send it. There´s no mapping or saving to a specific program number, program 1 is always the clean channel and so on.
