I've always wanted to build one of these guitars and I just bought a body to do it. The black and yellow has always been my favorate. I'm thinking of just doing rattle can paint and then having it clear coated at a car body shop, this will save some cash. Any one build one of these and how did you do it & how did it turn out?

I did a mockingbird for a buddy of mind not too long ago. It came out all right I'd say. Just used cheap spray paint.

WOW!!!!! Thumbs up on the guitar and great job on the video man!!!!!
Oh, I didn't make the video. I found it on You Tube and posted it as a reference that might be able to help you. There's several vids on there showing how to do the paint jobs for the black and white, bumblebee, Frankenstein and the 5150 that are very helpful. Here are some pics of my Kramer 5150 which was my favorite growing up.

check out halen.com,ita evh forum with a pretty long thread about making a replica. i wanted to build one to but i pussed out and bought a used charvel art series. good luck

This is my custom EVH. Wolfgang style but the build is superb!!! This guitar plays perfect and was set up pefectly out of the box. Here is the link to this guy. He is a new builder and you guys should check him out. He'll help you out with your build and a real nice guy. I will be getting another build from him later in the year. Thinking of a Ibanez RG Prestige type cut mahogany body spalted maple top with oil finish, with pau ferro neck and fretboard waxed, with Aldrich or Nailbombs pups in it.

I did this one, basically in two days for a halloween costume. If your gonna do the striping, it helps to use very thin tape for masking. I can't recall the specific type recommended, but mine was rather thick and left ridges around the edges of the lines. Don't know if that makes sense to you.

Here are mine. Someone painted the Frankie body (swamp ash) for me about 12 years ago and it's just spray pait out of a can. I personally wouldn't clear coat it unless you do a bumblebee. My other frank (northern ash) is just oiled and sounds killer. Good luck with your project

I build a Black and White Frankie about a year ago. Bought parts from Ebay and Warmoth over a period of time and had the body painted at a body shop. I placed the decals myself after the body shop applied the black paint to ensure it was just like I wanted it. I installed a DiMarzio Evolution pickup which sounds killer. I really like this guitar and it was a fun project. Here's a link to a YouTube video that I made reviewing the guitar itself. Good luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuyNVSPJIr0
