Anyone own or planning on getting a VHT Pittbull 50CL?

I was curious how these things sound and how you like them for covering everything from clean to modern stuff?

One of my favorite amps. I had the 100/CL and wish I still had it.

Very versatile from clean to mean. What impressed me the most was how good it sounded with my strat. The gain is very tight and clear sounding. Maybe a tad thin for really modern stuff, but for everything else it was fantastic. Mine didn't have the graphic EQ so I'm sure you could thicken it up with that option.

Thanks bro! You know I have the JVM410 Combo and I noticed you have one of the JVM amps. Did you like it better than the JVM or is it a completely different beast altogether?

I had two different 50CL heads and a JVM410 head. They are pretty different. In the higher gain modes, the JVM was more saturated, compressed, and "thinner" in the lows. The VHT had a less saturated, open, "thicker" gain tone. Still plenty of distortion in the VHT, though.

IN MY OPINION, the VHT 50CL has two distortion channels that can be cleaned up. Not a dedicated clean channel.

I don't expect everyone to agree with this, but I think the JVM is more Cameron-like than the VHT 50CL. Both the Cameron 1959SLP "Aldrich" modded head and the JVM had a little too much distortion for me in the higher gain modes. They also weren't super thick in the lows. Now that's not a bad thing at all, but I've started using less distortion and thicker tones lately. Ya know?

Chris, that definitely makes sense to me. On HC, someone mentioned the VHT60 not having enough gain for metal, and I thought they were nuts!!! Over the past few years I'v gone back and listened to some of my favorite guitarists when I was in high school (Lynch, DiMartini, Macalpine, etc.) and they don't use alot of gain. I know that has been said a thousand times but it is so true and worth repeating.

For Slipknot and certain other bands, that oversaturated, tons of gain tone is needed. For most of the hard rock stuff though alot of these amps have way too much gain. On my JVM the gain is at 9:00 on the orange and red modes. Much more than that and there is mush.
