I recently decided to get mine pimped, blew the dust off it and got to work. Pulled all the panels off and re-painted them using matt black pain then non glossy clear coat. Next job was to install a kill switch for the internal speakers as they would be on even if I was plugged into 2 4x12 which I found quite annoying. Finally was to get new drivers/speakers for the wee box. So I contacted a UK GK supplier who ordered them in from California, took 6 months to arrive!!! Had them installed only to find the writing was out of phase... so I took it into the guys at Flynn Amps in Glasgow who sorted it for me and got it in phase. Now it looks new and sounds great. Love the over compressed SS tone! Not great for all applications but great at what it does.

And it's LOUD....

Looks awesome, would love to have one of those someday to play with. I think Alex Lifeson used to plays those a long time ago. should be able to get some Rush tones out of that thing.

Yes! The Power Windows album and Hold Your Fire

David Gilmour also used one in the 80s

Iron Maiden used the box version for recording Somewhere in Time and then the rack version for Seventh Son.

I gigged with mine for years. Just replaced the original speakers about four yrs. ago. I bought it in 1988 and Greg Howe was standing in line behind me at the store when I bought it. Love that amp.

I want to get one just because of those two albums! I didn't know they did a rack version though..

Brings back memories! I sold a JCM 800 to get one then traded it back later on for another JCM 800

didn't Maiden use them on Powerslave as well?
I think that was still Marshalls..

Powerslave was MkII mid to late 70's Marshalls and Pete Cornish efx rigs.

They used the GK250ML mk2 (sunken control knobs) on Somewhere in Time. I honestly have heard they even mic'd them up on tour backstage!

Michael Schenker used them on the Perfect Timing record as well. Great little piece of gear.
