Anyone stil rocking a peavey jsx?

As much as I dig my 5150 III 50 watt, i've been toying with the idea of going back to the JSX. For almost a decade I was searching for the tow and I could hear in my head. I owned everything from fender tonemaster to bogner ecstasy to VHT pitbull ultra lead to soldano hot rod 50. The jsx was everything I was looking for. Three channels that had everything from clean too over-the-top gain.

I ultimately sold it to get the 5153 50 watt. I love the blue channel with a boost. It's damn near perfect to me.

I'm thinking of switching back.

Anyone still rocking a jsx?

What would you do?
 
I had one, I loved it. Was my first 'tube' amp. When I see one for sale, I am tempted to pick one up...but I wouldnt have a ton of use for it. Much less do I have any money available with a baby girl due in October.
 
Not for years.. Tried one cause I wanted a clean clean channel. It was one of those amps that was fun to play by yourself but didn't hold up with the band at those volumes
 
Saw this band open for the Whinery Dogs a few years ago and this guy was using a JSX on a Mesa 2x12 cabinet. Sounded great.

 
I had one years ago (when they first came out)...replaced the 34's immediately and it became my favorite amp for awhile. Just never liked the 34's in that amp. I had actually gone from a decades use of the 5150 as my main amp then went through the standard High Gainers back then (Boogie, VHT, Splawn etc... so many I can't remember) then tried the XXX at Summer NAMM, when it was Lynch's new sig for basically 30 seconds lol. They even had posters at the Peavey booth with George. Bought that...liked it and flip flopped back and forth with the 5150. Finally when the JSX was out there, liked it alot...easier to dial in than the XXX. Played that for a couple years straight. Good amp, great a low volumes and sounds good when you open them up. IMO the original 5150 and the JSX are best high gain amps Peavey/Brown ever did.

What would I do...if I could, I'd keep the III and buy the JSX lol.
 
I would keep the 5153 mysticboi, you can get a used JSX cheap if you look around, I used a XXX and a PV 5150 + for years and I hace the EVH now, I feel like the EVH just has more growl...
 
Still using both myself for the past couple of years. I've had the JSX longer than the 5153 and it's not going anywhere. Keep both.
 
I LOVE the 5153 50w gain tones. But the JSX is a better gigging amp. It's got better cleans and a more usable crunch, too. Plus it has a foostwitchable lead boost. Just a pro amp.

I only sold mine because it weighs a TON. Heaviest amp I've ever owned, and I've owned a shitload of amps.
 
I feel a little differently about the jsx that I had back in 07.

Although I thought it was good, I honestly cannot compare it to the 50 watt.

my 50 watt's overall tone kills it. just my opinion.

I've never have a hard time dialing in my 50 watt. I fought many times with my jsx.
 
Active eq neuteres the dirty chanels, the clean is a regular design and takes pedals well. The loop volume also neuters the tone.

Not a great amp but passable, still stuck in cocked wah territory.
 
Seems like 499 is the going used price at Guitar Center.com...
