Hey guys,
looking for some guidance. I've had a few Axis' in the past. Never quite gelled with the Dimarzio bridge pickups. Recently picked one up (again lol) and I'm thinking about swapping it out for a Duncan...maybe a JB...or something.

Anyone ever done this?

I' know you have to file the edges for them to fit in the triangular space the Axis has...but do you have to special order them for short legs?

Any help/advice/opinions welcome...

Yeah, you'll need short legs and to cut/file them down to DiMarzio triangle shape. I've done this since I only like the look of DiMarzio triangle ear pickups direct mounted since square ear or even worse Duncan trembuckers look horrible direct mounted. You won't be able to fit a trembucker in there so you'll have to deal with a regular spaced Duncan hum and the poles not lining up with the strings...not sure if that matters to you or not. It's mostly an aesthetic thing and you only slightly hear the misalignment if you roll back the volume on a clean tone, then some strings may sound just a bit weak. When it's up on 10 and certainly through some gain it doesn't seem to matter too much.

You may want to try a dimarzio with similar specs as the JB? Or a Suhr Aldrich?? I think that might drop right in and would probably sound killer in that guitar. Lately I've been favoring the EVH Wolfgang humbuckers but would probably require modification to fit in the axis...

I know this isnt what you asking but for anyone wanting to know,
I did put a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge of a buddys Axis
Stock pickup ,in our opinion was better suited.
