DiMarzios are better than Duncans...change my mind

My favorite Duncan:

I have played plenty of both.

As @VonBonfire said, I really dig the 498T compared to a JB, especially uncovered.

I still have the Dimarzios in my Jem but have never jumped to put them in other guitars, something isn't fully there with the spectrum that I like.

That being said, they work very well for that shreddy Vai sound that smooths out a lot of frequencies to make it a bit more 'fluid'.

I have installed several different sets of Planet Tone pickups in guitars and keep going back to them because they are so open and dynamic sounding.

The pricing is also really decent with the PT stuff. That being said, not a lot of demos out there and I feel that some of their pickups, while very clear, can be a bit bright on top like the 59 and Legacy I heard.

I have played the PT stuff against EMG, Duncan, Dimarzio, Gibson, etc and keep going back to check them out.

I have a set of their Blues Heritage coming for a Les Paul.

I think I have gotten to play 4 sets from them, and am about to get to try a couple more!

I know that went way off topic but hey, you may check them out and like what you hear.

The complete custom color/build options are sweet as well.

Hard to argue pickups when I honestly think they are very guitar and genre specific.

Lemme know how those work out for you after you get a chance to test 'em.
Fasho!

I have had a set of their DG single coils in my main Partscaster for several years.

A set of Poundcake humbuckers in a tele-partscaster.

Have installed a set of their 1956 P90s in a friend's Epiphone custom and they were wonderfully rich and full of harmonics. (His first set.)

Installed a set of H-Bombs tonight in a friend's Gretsch and will test them soon. (His second.)

Have an American Metal Tele set on the way for my Tele-bird build.

The Blues Heritage set will arrive in about 4 weeks, will be sure to review them in my Gibson LP.

Same friend has a set of their 1955 Hot pickups that will be ready in about 4 weeks. (His third!)

My friend is legally blind, in his 70s, and was in the Detroit rock scene and stuff. Really cool stories.

IDK why I mention that he is legally blind, but he is, and I do all of his guitar work for him for free.

My musical tastes are on the other side of the spectrum from him but we both get tones we like out of the same pickup sets, so I'd say they are pretty versatile.

Again, will be sure to leave that review once they arrive.

Oh WOW. Nostalgia comes rushing back as my yo-yo addiciton years all of a sudden come to the forefront.
I mowed my parent's pretty good size lawn a good few times to put together the cash for that Duncan Jewel. The butterfly was a bit easier to operate and to get sleeping and walking the dog with less headaches, but it didn't have jewels on it! I still wish I had one of those jewels. I remember when the smother's brothers yo-yo came out and dude's started cork sniffing and complaining about the duncans, lol. I had one but it wasn't as easy to operate as the butterfly. My dad coul do some cool tricks so he taught us. The old days!
