Just saw the RG870QMZ and RG920QM models a few days ago and they look like a great guitar for a very reasonable price. Great features, stunning looks and from the clips i have watched on YouTube, they sound very good. Looks almost like a J-Custom style Ibanez but for a lot less $$$.

Anybody here tried one or bought one yet? If so, chime in and let me know what you think of them!

I haven't had a chance to play one yet...no shops in my area really carry any ibanez guitars above about $500 :(

but they look amazing!

Pretty big threads on em over at Jemsite ... mixed reviews, lots of drama about the necks and such. Never tried one personally.

I played one for about 10 minutes about 3 months ago and was not impressed. Felt very cheap. My prestige played 10 times better.

+1 on all this. Check out Jemsite and I too have yet to play one.

Don't forget, the top is just a veneer. I'd much rather just get a $500 RG550 than buy a new Premium, but that's just me.

I scored one new for a really low price.Pretty sure I will be parting ways with the Pups. The top is a very thin veneer and I doubt that it contributes much tone wise, but it does look cool as hell.I dont have any remorse over the purchase. It plays killer and the trem is a very good fit to my tastes.
Did I mention that it looks cool as hell?

I only spent about 10 minutes with one but I couldn't find anything to complain about...it played extremely well and had incredible fretwork.

At that price level, I prefer the RG 1550M (poisoned pumpkin  ). It's only $100 more (list) and is part of the Prestige line. It has the HSH pickup configuration and a maple fret board, which I prefer. Plus, it comes with a hard case while the 870 and 920 don't. Seems like a good buy for the $100 difference... YMMV
