Anyone try these strap locks?

I got a set from Sweetwater - and they are great. Really like them. Low profile, easy to install, work flawlessly, and super easy to install. I highly recommend them.

I have them on all my guitars after not getting along with other strap locks for many years.

I have some for my Les Paul, have worked great for a couple of years now.

I have been looking at those for the last while as well. Good to hear a few are using them. I have a set of the Grover locks that came with my Axcess and I kind of like those as well.

The only real downside I see is if your strap broke, or you forget your strap, there is no way to use a strap without the lock part on a strap. But I have a supper thick Red Monkey leather strap that would never break, and I bought a 2nd set of locks that I threw in my case that I could put on a strap if I forgot mine.

Just something to be aware of. :)

I never liked strap locks because of how much they all stick above the body.
Looks like these are a winner.
Thanks for the headsup

There is a way to use them with a regular strap in an emergency ... I just forget what the guy showed me... :aww:  :scared:

I still prefer the Schallers. I feel less safe with the Loxx because if, for some reason, you don't push them in all the way the guitar is going down. The Schallers have a small safety net with the U-shaped clip. If they don't snap the U will still catch and keep the guitar from falling. But then again, I'm probably overly paranoid. Plus, I fear change.

The Schallers can loosen up, the Loxx don't. I've been using Loxx for three years and I'm a very animated/theatric player, never had a problem. I hardly ever remove my straps but if you did forget one with Loxx, you're screwed.

HATE them.

seriously HATE them.

in three months on tour went through four pairs.

loved everything about them except they DONT last.

the ball wears away until the lock no longer holds it. just eats a groove right into it until it thins.

have some around still, ill try to get a photo up.

Interesting. Spaceboy has had his for 3 years, but he said he doesn't remove the strap a lot, which would cut down on the wear on the ball. They do sell the ball part separately. Just strange since I've had that same design on auto tops, and that lasted forever. Doesn't mean that the Loxx are made to same specs. I guess I'll see. Definitely wouldn't want to replace them every 3 months.

Still sticking with my Schallers, U shape will help if it fails, although never had one fail in all my years of gigs. Just check tightness every few months on both the strap and the guitar.

admittedly i was playing "vigorously" and my bass guitar weighed about the same as a les paul.

i don't think this vid of us as an example displays anything considered excessive.

I really wanted to LOVE them but they just left me with no sense of security at all, the entire reason to buy them. I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone.

once i find a post ill post a pic. was so glad i brought lots of extra posts with me!

When you had issues, were you only changing the post and not the locking mechanism on the strap? Shai Hulud's stage presence isn't excessive to me either, and I play a similar style of music. Weird how these work perfectly for me but you had issues. I looked over a couple of my oldest Loxx-equipped guitars and don't see any scoring at all in the ball end.

yes that is correct, only changing the balls, but i did inspect the other parts and found nothing unusual. it is possible but i doubt both would fail simultaneously unless there was a batch issue.

maybe it was the weight of the bass but its similar to a les paul so that isn't a worthy excuse anyway.

id say if you're using them, be sure to inspect them every so often for wear.
