Have Sweetwater reps been messaging you on FB trying to get you to use their used site?

They can shove their 55 point inspection.
It's not real.

Some dude over at JGF bought a Heritage 575 from SW. That's about $3500. Ray Charles must've ran the inspection cause it arrived with all sorts of egregious build defects.

Yeah, I don’t know how they can claim 55 point when the manufacturer sucks at QC.

I bought a signature model Gibson two or three years ago and it was the worst built guitar I’ve ever seen.

Sold it and learned to never buy another product from that manufacturer.

Someone was selling a black LP classic on CL a while back. The tuners had been installed so crooked it had to have been intentional and the finish was peeling away behind the tone knobs. Definitely a "classic", lol.

A local guitar tech tells me that Sweetwater helps keep them in business.
I wouldn't expect a SW instrument to be perfect when it shows up. Everything that switches environments probably needs a good setup, but the fact that SW has let mega duds through their "55 point inspection" tells me it's all corporate smooth talk.

I used to buy most my studio gear from Vintage King. The rep I had was decent, but left the company. The new one I got was so bad, I asked for a new one and they made it seem like it was an unreasonable ask. Fuck them

I got back in touch with the rep I’ve used at SW and got a few things. I was talking asking him one day what it would take to demo studio monitors. He said just buy them and return them if I don’t like them. I bought about $30k of studio monitors and just kept returning them until I got a pair that I liked. Then got a substantial discount on that pair…

I’ve bought a lot of items from that particular rep at SW, since. That rep has helped me out a lot. One thing I can say, is SW isn’t a very good place to go for limited runs or rare items, but that is out of the rep’s hands.

It’s amazing to me how customer service can be such a roll of the dice. I will pay a little more for an item if it means I get to keep dealing with the same rep in the future. Something bean counters will never consider
