Anyone use an EHX The Worm?

I've been looking at effects pedals to add some new tonal dimensions to clean sections, etc.

Settled on the TC Flashback and the Electro Harmonix Worm has caught my eye, it's really cheap and has four mod functions, all analogue.

Has anyone owned one or used one? What's it like? Clips sound good, I'm mostly interested in the Tremolo function, but I'd like a tremolo to be quite... not.. agressive, but you know what I mean, not wimpy, I want it to be quite obvious.

I can't vouch for The Worm. I like keeping up with EHX effects though. What I've heard about this one is that it can be good, but if you are picky about any individual effect, it can disappoint. If you are really looking for a tremelo, it might be better to get a good tremelo somewhere. There are some hum-dinger tremelos out there. For some reason, the only one that comes to mind is the trem on a Vox AC30, but I'm sure something similar can be had in pedal form. Fender has a good tremelo too.

Now for the disclaimer. I'm mostly saying this for a bump. I don't have any direct experience with this stuff. I'm just repeating what I hear from people online or heard on youtube or something.

But anyway <<<<bump>>>>

Indeed. EHX comes up with some awesome unique stuff. If anything, find a used one. If you find that it isn't practical, sell it and get your money back. It's EHX, you'll know you'll have fun with it :D

Thanks for the bump.

I think since I can't try one out I'll have to buy one, they're pretty cheap used on Ebay so I think I'll go for that option, I'm not fussed about it being 24V since I've got a daisy chain for 6 9v pedals and I intend to use all 6 anyway.

Tremolo pedals seem to be quite expensive, which is surprising because I can't think of anyone I know that has one, or many recordings in recent years that use them, I think they're killer though.

I'm looking to use it for stuff like this: I'll also use the phaser I think since apparently it's quite like a univibe, the fixed wah would be cool, I prefer that over an expression wah since my drummer is lending me his for practices/gigs.

1:45 is when the trem starts.

I think I will get a used one, although they're pretty cheap new, and apparently they're very well built and sturdy. My bassist has the Bass big muff pi and I think it sounds pretty good, little trebbly but I guess that's what to expect. He got his really cheap used, too. Feels really sturdy too.

I had one and hated it. It just sounded generally really cheap and weird to me... I guess if that's your thing then it's a cool pedal. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

ditto for me--it just didn't sound that good to me. i was mostly interested in the phaser, and it had a thinner more brittle phaser sound than i like.

it also uses a special power supply, 24V IIRC. you have to use it with that power supply; it won't take batteries.

I've got one, the big size original version. I like it. It does a nice phaser and tremolo effect. The mod-wah is interesting. Vibrato is nice and warm, as like with the phaser. The phaser sounds interesting when run in parallel with a flanger in a stereo setup- I really like that effect.
