a local is selling an old white metal grill boogie half back cab with wgs hp reapers in it for 400 bucks. Anyone ever used these speakers with a boogie mark series? what did u think? its a great deal i'm thinking about going for it, but i don't feel like dealing with re-speakering another 4x12 if i don't like them. removing them, trying to sell them, packing and shipping them, putting new ones in, etc... been there, done that too many times in my life... hopefully never again.

I have not but I would do that deal. The cab alone may be worth that much though I'm not a half back fan myself.

welp they sound nice! i dragged my feet on this for a few weeks, but finally pulled the trigger today. now the question is, do i pull the evs from my combos and put them in the bottom? i dont plan on moving it any time soon. ?

How did it sound to you? I've played Fractal's Mark series through my power amp and Reaper and liked it.

they're nice. pretty smooth. nice bass. no harshness anywhere, but i didnt get much time to crank them yet, did more bedroom volume stuff, but it seems same to say if i dont do the ev thing, im going to leave them all in.

rad score brother!
love the halfbacks and in white is even cooler!
my mahalo cab had wgs et65s and invader 50s and i swapped in a gh30 for giggles

I love my Invaders but don't care for the ET65s.. maybe I need to mix them :)

Do the ET65s match Celestion 65s tone? I've seen videos and I didn't think so. I think the ETs would be great for a clean amp.

i’m having a hard time finding something to complain about with these speakers either clean or dirty.

i’ve borrowed my buddy’s kerry wright 2x12 loaded with celestion 65s enough to hear similarities. both are flexible but imo hard to pinpoint the tone description. more linear and somewhere between the edge of a v30 and smoothness of gh30.

I put the ev's in the 4x12. they really make the "color" and "Fizz" of the reapers stand out. the reapers sound nice in the combos but maybe its just the sound of a change that i'm digging. i'll probably end up flipping them back at some point, but i can't decide. one thing about the repaers is that cone shape... all of the speakers i tend to really like have the shallow cones with big dust caps. These reapers have deep cones and small dust caps. so if you are standing close to them, they're really mid heavy. sounds like the 5 band is off. if you stand like 10 feet away its balanced and sounds great.

Nice score on the cab! I had some WGS Invaders and ET65’s for awhile, and they sounded really good at low to moderate volume, really warm and thick. At high volume, when Celestions really go next level and rage, the WGS’s lost clarity and flubbed out, so off they went.
