anyone using the EP booster?

I am. I really like it. I only have it up to 8 o'clock on the dial. For me just makes all the good frequencies I like stand out a little more. I'm using it more for the eq coloring than a boost.

yeah I was thinkin about getting one to have turned on all the time.

the same thing as just turning a presence knob up on an amplifier? or no? the speakers i plan on getting are really dark, i thought about getting one to make up for the difference, affraid it will turn into a shrill mess though.

I had to get rid of mine. It's a fantastic sounding pedal, but though I've read conflicting stories, I couldn't get unity gain with mine regardless of setting. Even with the knob turned all the way left and dip switches messed with, there was a serious boost happening. Enough of a boost where it wasn't usable for me in my situation. Personally I don't like being pegged minimum/maximum anywhere, cause it leaves you no room. Could use it as an always-on thing (cause it sounds great), but then you're buying another boost to do the job.

Have Jerry build you a More Pedal for $65. It's what the EP wants to be, but better and more quiet. I find the EP a little noisy. It went right back in the box after about 2 minutes.

I've got one. I really dig it. Like Shark Diver I keep the level around 8-9 o'clock. It works great for adding a little bit of ballsy boost. It's hard to describe what it does, it just adds the blend of frequencies. It also makes things sound "bigger".

The only downside for me is that it boosts volume for cleans more than dirty tones. Both with a Renegade and DSL, the clean channel gets a lot louder when you click on the EP compared to the dirty channel. I don't know why.

Not quite like turning up the presence, but sort of. It adds some bottom end as well. However, the treble that it adds isn't shrill. It's one of the few pedals that I like what it does the the top end of my amp and I am very anti-shrill, thin, or hairy top end.

interesting. would you say that when you go into a high note bend, it does not pierce your ear-drums with an ice-pick attitude but just makes everything you play clearer/more treble-defined?

steve was mentioning noise - anyone else that can account for added noise issues?

it went back in the box because of the noise or because of the tonal difference compared to the more pedal?

i really wanted to get one also, was pretty set on it,

but since i don't have that much space on the pedalboard, started using my BB preamp as a clean boost instead, admittedly not the main purpose of the pedal, but it gives me more flexibility depending on the sounds in case i want a bit of dirt as well as boosting before the HT dual i use.

And depending on the rig i either always leave it on or use it as a volume boost

Nope, no ice pickiness. I never described it as clearer or more treble-defined, but I think those terms could used to a degree. It certainly doesn't muddy things up.

It ships with the dip switches with the bass boost off and treble boost on. I've never tried to turn the bass boost on, as it pushes the bass already, but I have tried it with treble boost off. That's called vintage mode or something. It's subtle, but it is different. It's cool that way, but I found I liked that extra bit of top it gave. It tends to give everything a little more omph.

I've never felt the EP to be noisy of itself, BUT, if you have other pedals in the chain it will amplify their noisiness when it's on.
