Have you played an Astoria? I have, and I wouldn't call it a modded 800 at all. I'm referring to an actual JCM 800 RI that has a Jose type mod plus other goodies.

I meant the 3-4k part, not the JCM800 part haha. It seems like a modded JTM.
I really doubt many people would feel like paying that much for a new Marshall model no matter what it is though.

And arguably they already did their take on the SS clipping thing (2210/4100/2555), and the 800 with extra gain stages thing (JCM2000). Whether people like them or not is another story...

They probably just think it's easier to sell overpriced/underspec'ed phones/bluetooth speakers/headphones haha.

they also did the JCM800KK...
AMAZING 800 on steroids...

Was just going to mention this.
The Kerry King model was fucking awesome.
A lot of guys got turned off by it though since it was linked to
slayer.
Just bring it out again and rebrand it plain.

The Kerry King head is a great amp. He borrowed mine to play the Dime tribute gig at Ozzfest,so it is infused with his "evil". Now no matter what I play on it, it comes out atonal, chromatic and dissident.

That's weird, since you've loaned me your Kerry King Marshall, the only things it will play are Village People and Nickelback tunes... it just shuts off otherwise... what did you do to this thing? :D

I agree they should be able to do a great rodded Marshall. Hell, I'd settle for a slightly tweaked Shredmaster pedal reissue.
They did have a "Super 800" prototype back January but for some reason it got shelved.
Well that sucks.

They didn't release a Marshall fidget spinner? Maybe Marshall adult diapers so they can remind everyone how far they've slipped into the shitter.

-baaaahaha!!!-

-(TRUTH!!)-

-Marshall did OK with the Sig amps, I guess,... some of there Re-Issues,..... They did really well with the entry level-(sold there Marshall soul, so every kid could say, "yeah mang!! I got a marshall maps!! " bring on the MG-SERIES)-shit,... but there never gonna build a better hot-rodded Marshall than Friedman, BOGNER, Splawn, Soldano, etc, etc, etc, why? Because of quality of components, quality of engineer's, or even an original idea!!! Marshall hasn't listened to there customers & what they want in a long, long,.... WELL ACTUALLY FUCKIN EVER!!!.... they can't, they won't, they don't know how too!!!... there's been better MARSHALL'S than Marshall could make for along time, they should jump on the Modeling/CODE SERIES amps full force-(steal every good idea KEMPER & AXE has,.... model every Marshall ever made,.... and the amps you wish they made!!!... give unlimited tweak-ability,... at a fair price that they can have made in some Asian country, and make the read out interactive like on Guitar Player, lots of graphics, games, that kinda shit,.... but someone brought up a great point, will there even be a market in 20 years? Or even 10 years!! we're all aware of the decline of this & all guitar & amp forum's, live music is going the way of Drive inn's, Video Rental stores & phone booths..

-(Bye, Bye, miss american pie, drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry, them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye,...... singing, this will be the day that I die,..... this will be the day that I die...... )-

The Silver Jubilee has not been discontinued from what I've heard?

My advice to anyone who likes JCM800's or JMP's, is to find one in good condition and DO NOT MOD IT. You will thank me later.

reissues of reissues?

I think they know their market well. Aging boomers, X-ers, Y-ers, recreating the sounds of their past youth is where it's at, not breaking new sonic ground for guitar since most guitarists are traditionalists looking backwards into history for inspiration and tones. IMO

I'd guess they ceded some of the high end to independent builders, rehash their historic models, fill the low end / entry level, and jumped on the low watt bandwagon. They have handwired, Astoria and Jubilee on down covered. They can't have too many options available at the same time as they need to recoup R&D and manufacturing costs, etc.

It's a similar model to Gibson, Fender, Vox, etc. though there are some amusing tangents, especially Gibson's technical advancement attempts that were rejected by most...

Who's still rockin' their Firebird X ;) Do you have the red vomit or blue diarrhea finish? It's still my favorite example of what not to do.

Another market is the generic rock music fans who do not play instruments but like the Marshall brand/logo. They sold lots of headphones and bluetooth speakers to these guys.

I had one for a short time when they first came out. There was a review about it that kind of turned me off, talking about how the circuitry was inferior somehow. It sounded really damned good, but I didn't know much back then and sold it. The only reissue I really wanted to see was the Silver Jubilee, but if they did a limited run of the KKs, I might pick one up.

The KK platform had a lot of potential. Since the boost section basically has the circuit of a 10-band EQ, they could've built in a few different EQ curves to accommodate different tastes. I got a local tech to add a different mode for me.

There is no money in building amps. That's history. The end. The boutique guys are lucky if they sell 150 amps when a new amp comes out. The idea anyone is getting rich off doing this is humorist.
