anything to replace G system yet? Hd500x? Gt100?

Just surprised no one has came out with a better solution to the g system. Or why the hell tc has never fixed the issues that surround it. It's really the ultimate idea!

Anyone try the new line 6 hd500x ?

I would like to find that all in one pedalboard does it all deal to go with my head, primarily my Diezel Herbert.

for the 4cm setup i'm yet to find something better/easier than the digitech GSP1101 , i guess the RP1000 is the same brain/system as well

the Pod HD i think might suffer similar issues with the levels and D/A conversion, you could probably grab a hd500 for cheap now seeing as the 500x has been released, given that you'll just be using it for effects you don't really need the extra DSP

i always thought the G system was neat but way overpriced, had the nova system for a little while, wasn't bad but had level/issues and wasn't too hot on the tone and effects quality, i always thought the toneprint series pedals sounded way better than the algorithms on the nova

Yea I had the gsp1101 for years it truly is great but I'm looking for a all in one unit.

I had 2 G systems. As soon as it come out n years later tried again. Always w the tone killer issue. It pisses me off cuz it truly is the ultimate setup. Rack or floor , only fx , midi , ch switching. But when it comes down to it. Even w the white paper lairds book. Dammit !

I see all now are updated after red version with the ib buffers deal.

As for line 6 tried the m13,m9 pod pro i always hear some weird tone to line 6 fx maybe it's me. But tc fx I hear clarity n warmth ?

I watch some real cool videos of the boss GT 100

The more inputs, wires, diodes, CPUs, and miles of circuitry in general that you put between your guitar and your amp... the more tone suck you will have. This is fact. I had a G-System and a Nova System. Like you said... great ideas. But if clear, articulate, punchy, responsive tone is what you seek. The less technical wizardly between you and your speakers... the better. I've been back to pedals for a couple of years because they seem to suck tone less. But honestly, right now my FX loop bypass switch on my 2203X is engaged most of the time. I'm more than fine with my BBE wah, TC Polytune, and Fulltone OCD in front of the amp and that's it for FX.

finally got tired of waiting, going back to a pedal set-up

Year later and nobody has released anything or hit a home run with 4CM. The Digitech RP-1000 does work but honestly I didn't like the modulation sounds in it.

I'm thinking Eventide H9 x 2 for me, midi, expression pedals...etc, & an EMB wah

I love my G-System. I have used all the incarnations. The Silver, still have the red for my practice pedalboard and use the iB modified for my main gigging board. The thing about the G is the amp you use it with. Some amps it works fine with some it doesn't. It works great with my EVH amps. No tone loss here. I have an Axe-Fx II and it's not replacing my G-System. I love the flexibility it offers me.

Boss gt 100 is pretty close no tone loss. Fx sound great. But gay stem looks and designed amazing. Splitting it in half is amazing idea. Throw out one cable n roll. But I think some fx sound eh. But I haven't heard a g since almost a year after they came out.

I agree with OP. I really wihs there was a perfect system out there to integrate with my Bogner XTC and I would buy it and use it. I like the M9 but wish I could change channels with it to without going Midi.

Are you guys confirming that even with the updated and improved buffer section, the TC Electronic G system still has tonal degradation issues ? I really want an FX/amp function relay switching/loop integration system but cannot deal with any tone loss whatsoever.

This sounds pretty great as well for fx

That's how my PODHD is set up with my 5153... I use it for FX and real pedals for drives in a RJM minFX. I think it sounds good.... people can say what they want about Line 6 but for 4CM I've not found a more transparent and quiet setup than the M13 or POD HD and I've tried 4CM with the G System, AxeFX, the GSP and I still preferred the the M13. I replaced my old M13 with the POD HD500 and I'm happy.

It all boils down to impedance matches and mismatches between your amps FX send and the G's insert return which has a very low impedance. Some amps work well with it and others don't. Some people have great success by adding a buffer and other gear like the Lele Sunday Driver to their rigs. Others use loop 4 to connect their preamp instead of the insert and others have no problems at all. Maybe try one from a source with a good return policy so if you don't like it you can return it. Good luck.

Old thread bump but on a whim I decided to try a GT-100. It's not bad! I just had to set the loop level to +4 and I'm getting the 4CM setup to sound really close to just 1 OD straight into the amp. I think it's missing just a little bottom but I'll try to dial that back in. Programming is a little quirky. Most of the effects sound good, phaser is pretty good. There's only 1 flanger. Delays and verb sound great. I use Xotic BB Preamps to boost my amp and the GT100 Tube Screamer and Marshall Guv are really good.

So far I have to say I'm getting better results with it than the G System of the Line 6 stuff. The effects are better than the RP1000. I imagine the new Fractal FX8 has just a lot more variety than the GT100...........but I got this for 300 bucks. Another few days and I'll decide if it can replace my pedalboard.

I haven't even tried the modeling yet, doesn't hurt that it's there even if it's not that great.

I am also using the 4cm method with the 5153 and pod500x. I am using it for fx on the blue and red channels, channel switching, and using amp sims instead of the green channel.

Sounds great for rehearsals and live playing.

I have been trying for weeks to get my HD500 to sound good into my evh and it just sound crap, can someone point me to the "correct" way to hooking it up (only using effects no drive, amps etc)

ok I think I found what I need, one question...when you turn the EVH's loop off does it cut the HD out so you have pure EVH tone??

Are you using the 4 Cable Method? If so, try checking settings in the POD for line level. In my Gt100 I had the line level set for -10 which made it sound like crap. I set it to +4 and that did the trick.
