Hi there,

i tried to setup my new Torpedo VS-101 with my Apogee Duet 2, but unfortunately i run into a deadend all the time...

i connected the Torpedos Digital I/O (AES as well as EBU) to the Breakout Box of my Apogee Duet 2, hence i get no signal at the input of my Duet... dont know where i go wrong, but maybe someone on here knows the correct way of doing this?

Soldano hot rod --> Torpedo VS-101 --> Breakout Box/Duet 2 --> Reaper

Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Sorry but I don't know this soundcard. I just checked the I/Os, and I couldn't find any AES/EBU input, what did I miss?

There is no risk to plug the AES out of the VB-101 to the Line in of a soundcard, you will just hear some broadband noise which is partly some aliasing from the digital AES signal coupling into the 20-20Khz band. ;)

I am sorry but I still can't find any mention of digital I/Os on this interface:

On the link you sent:

Breakout Cable with:
2 Combination Line/Mic/Instrument Inputs
2 Balanced Line Outputs

Redesigned Breakout Cable
Duet 2’s new breakout cable is greatly streamlined with 2 combination mic/instrument connectors (XLR and 1/4”) built into a single connector and 2 balanced 1/4” connectors for speakers. The elegant single cable-to-junction design allows for easy cable management and the locking connection to Duet 2 is robust and stylish.

Is there any chance (please don't get mad at me if it's not the case) that you don't know the difference between XLR Line or mic (analog) and XLR AES/EBU (digital)? It happens very often, so I have to ask. ;)

I think that if you plug the line out of the VB-101 to the one of the 2 XLR on the Duet it will work better.

oh you´re so right... sorry. figured it out in the meantime...!

I have exactly the same problem and i would really appreciate your help.I connect my Marshall's Speaker out to the torpedo's 8ohm INPUT. The apogee duet doesn t have digital outs...I'm sending from the Torpedo's post sim outs into the duet's analog inputs. I open my DAW and the signal i get is really low, peaked and sounds really bad....please if u figured out something, i need your advice.....thanks

On your Maestro software you have 3 input choices:

Input
This menu is used to select the input connector and level:

XLR Line +4dBu – Set Input to XLR Line +4dBu if you’ve connected a professional level line input, such as a pro mixing console, to the IN (XLR) connectors.

XLR Line –10 dBV – Set Input to XLR Line -10dBV if you’ve connected a consumer level line input, such as a CD player, to the IN (XLR) connectors.

XLR Mic – Set Input to XLR Mic if you’ve connected a microphone to the
IN (XLR) connectors. The gain is adjustable between 10 and 75 dB. Instrument – Set Input to Instrument if you’ve connected a guitar or keyboard to the IN (1/4”) connectors; gain is adjustable between 0 and 65 dB. It’s also possible to connect CD players and other consumer level (-10 dBV) devices to these inputs.

make sure you have selected XLR Line+4db

Also, check that you have a proper sound quality from the VB-101's headphone out and readjust the Torpedo until you do.

Please reply with how you're doing and we can assist further if req'd

that was Duet 1, are you using Duet 2? Shouldn't be much different

Hi jimslither,

could you please tell us the configuration you have in your SETUp / Audio menu?

Which one of the outputs are you using on the VB-101?

We have no news on this one, if you solved your issue Jim it would be nice for us to know. ;)
