BC Rich mockingbird custom shop. neck thru, mahogany wings, ebony board, dimarzio pups. What is this guitar worth where it would sell at?

Nice looking Mockingbird...I assume this is a recent one? I'm not sure what they bring but your market will be more limited with the Kahler and non-traditional headstock (although those same features may be a selling point to somebody).

It's supposed to be black, and it's an '07.

I'm trying to buy it actually, so just trying to get an idea on what to offer.

Beautiful Trans. Black.
I bet he bought it for somewhere
in the ballpark of 4K plus.

He payed $3300 for it.

If I could buy it for $1600, how would I do?

That definitely looks like a custom shop B.C. Rich--I'd say $1600 would be a steal... IF you like the Widow headstock and the feel/setup of a Kahler instead of a Floyd as they both play VERY differently.

Put it this way--if it didn't have the Widow head stock, I would pay in the neighborhood of $2200 for that guitar.

Someone offered me a custom shop, signed 7 string Warlock that is, or was on Ebay recently for 4k. I passed when it was $1500. I like this Mockingbird a lot more, but the market is wide open for these current custom shop BC Riches. If I was paying 3k or so, it would only be on a vintage one. To be honest, if I was paying $1500, I would still be looking for an older one...unless I was spec'ing it myself.

$1600 is too much to pay for a guitar.

$1600 is about right for that guitar, IF he would spec it the same way for himself.

Than I have been doing this all wrong for allot of years... ;)

The widow headstock kills it for me but the Kahler just makes it an abortion which is sad because that guitar with a Floyd would be SWEET!!!

Yeah, a floyd would definitely be nice, or even an old Badass bridge.

So a Kahler is a killbuzz for this guitar? I've never played a Kahler before, how does it feel in comparison to a Floyd?

As far as the Beast headstock, (it's a beast, not widow), it's a HUGE plus for me. That headstock just looks mean, the stock mockingbird one is not nearly as fun.

Then many of us have been doing it all wrong.

Thanks for the help. :jerkit:

I would have actually built it nearly identical, but with a Floyd, but again, I've never used a Kahler either.

I actually like Kahler better than Floyds, but I'm biased as I grew up playing Kahler-equipped B.C. Rich guitars. If I could, I'd switch all my guitars from Floyd to Kahler in a heartbeat if they were available.

It's a totally different system and feel, but I prefer it... (see earlier note in re "bias"). Worth noting, though, that the Kahler Flyer is the whole reason for adding solder to the winds around the ball end of your strings. Kahler Flyer accepts the ball end of the string, but oddly, over time, has the tendency to unwrap the string from the ball. A touch of solder and you're solid.

History class concluded...

What is it in particular that you prefer? What model Kahler do you think is on that guitar?

Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that I don't use the trem bar all that often anyway, with my Floyds.
