I’m going to repair it by sandwiching a couple of pieces of wood. Looks like that patch is luan. I got it off a really nice younger dude and when I asked him about it he was shocked and had no idea about it.
I actually think this is a possible factory repair and guitar was sold as a second…imo… I think they just routed it out to much. Maybe. Hell I don’t know. I do know after setting up this guitar and stringing it… it’s a keeper. Love the Gibson scale on this and the neck profile is just perfect. So eventually I will repair it but for now I had to try it out. It now has that tonenerd one off pup in the neck that Scottosan made, I left the jb trembucker in the neck because he holes in my distortion had been hogged out… might replace the back cover on it. Anyway the playability and feel of this thing is great. Very happy regardless.
