AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – January 19, 2011 – Jim Matheos (current member of the progressive rock powerhouse Fates Warning and OSI) and John Arch (former vocalist of Fates Warning) are currently working together on a new full-length album that will be released in late spring/early summer via Metal Blade Records. The band, called ARCH / MATHEOS, began tracking the drums on January 12 and will continue to record through mid February with both John Arch and Jim Matheos producing the album. ARCH / MATHEOS features an all-star lineup including the talents of Joey Vera on bass (Armored Saint, Anthrax, Fates Warning, Seven Witches), Bobby Jarzombek on drums (Halford, Fates Warning, Sebastian Bach, Riot), and Frank Aresti on additional lead guitar (Fates Warning). More details will be released over the coming months so be sure to stay tuned to FatesWarning.com & MetalBlade.com

Good news for fans of old Fates Warning.

This info is posted on FW's official site, and I saw it in the new Guitar World as well.

Yeah, man. Saw that a while back as well. Really looking forward to it as Twist of Fate was awesome.

Jim Matheos is amazing!! Not a big Fates warning fan, but Jim is amazing!

I am sure it will sound awesome (how could it not with Jim and Frank playing), but I still dig Rays vocals over John's. I know that there would possibly not have ever been "a" Ray Alder, without John Arch, but I am still a much bigger fan of Alder's vocals.

Awaken the Guardian is one of the best 80's metal albums.

John Arch = Bruce Dickinson on helium !

No one else heard the last Arch/Matheos/Portnoy EP called Twist of Fate?

Yes I have it. Great stuff. Arch still has it.

Love FW, but had a harder time getting into the earlier stuff with Arch, but Twist of Fate is just brilliant. I seriously encourage FW/Arch lovers/haters to pick that up.

Johns brilliance is amazing melodies... listen to Awaken the Guardian and some of the melodies he writes over that very complicated music is amazing. Twist of fate was great as well, was left wishing it was longer.. glad to see he's doing something again.
