Thanks for all the info guys.

So far i am liking it but loop noise is a deal breaker. Anyone have a review for the newer “fixed” loop?
My loop works fine with an Eventide H9, TC mini verb, Catalinbread belle epoch, Strymon timeline and Rocktron intellifex. I had an issue with a T-Rex whirrly verb pedal. That one was unusable for me, which didn’t matter much since I didn’t like the pedal much to begin with. What do you use in your loop?

Some alexander delay, reverb, and modualtion pedals via a TB looper.

I think the Archon is a pretty awesome sounding amp. The clean channel is great and takes drive pedals really good. I dig the gain channel a lot. It likes a boost if you like to boost. I recently returned mine. It was a 2014,but I got it new. Only problem was the loop. It's noisy with some pedals. And unfortunately it was noisy with my main delay pedal. They had a fix for it that they started doing in November of 2014, but mine didn't have it done. Music store was cool and hooked me up with the PRS rep to send it back to have the loop fixed/updated. I was told about two weeks. A month goes by and I don't hear a word from the rep and my calls and texts are not answered. So I just returned it. It very well could be on it's way back but I was done. I really liked the amp though. Here is a little iPhone clip I recorded. The first distorted tones are from a pedal. After that it amp distortion. I also turn on a clean boost a few times. I turn the effects loop on and off several times durning the video and you should be able to hear the noise. It was just too much on the gain channels.

Man sounds pretty pissed to me! I need to try one of these for sure.

I really liked the amp. The gain channel had a thickness to it I really liked. The guitar I used in that clip is also not particularly tight or bright. The bridge pickup is about 1/4” further from the bridge than my other guitar. That little bit makes a difference. Also, low output PAF ish pickup.

Also, mine was pre November 2014. In November 2014 they started sending them out with the revised loop. I think it just a single resistor from my research.

The noise issues have seemed to be with specific pedals, not an issue with all pedals. The PRS loop fix mod seemed to help some. Other people have come up with other things that helped. Like I said, I’ve not had issues besides that one pedal and I’d think using the loopbone might help potential problems.

I am glad you asked about the Archon as well,I have been looking at them a little bit lately because after I make a few more payments my main amp/speaker cab combo is payed off and was interested in the Archon, even though I really don't need another amp,but I can't help it,GAS Attack !

My loop is fine as well. Using Empress VMSD, and Earthquaker stuff.

First of all who the fuck is “they said” ... never listen to they, being they comments aren’t what your ear will hear. Some comment without any real experience either !

I owned one for quite awhile then sold it to my guitarist... we recorded with it and toured with it.
Records amazing
Live cuts and sits well in a band setting.
Home it’s fine at lower levels

Too me sounds like a Mesa/Bogner blend n bright switch does a lot.
Ps... does not sound play or feel like a diezel. I’ve owned diezels n have toured with them for about 10 Years.

This sounds pretty accurate to me. Not sure who/where the Diezel comparison got started.

The Recto/Uber sound, feel, and vibe is what I got from it as well.

Well that would be Dan “mailman” and the four other rig talkers who got together to jam on one of these things at dans house. I take no ones word at face value for gear but grabbing one of these to try when it seems to have no resale value would be foolish if not certain. I usually just buy heads to see how they are, been through 15 of them. This one seems risky though and the goal is to save money.

Cool this is what I expected of it, thanks.

Nice, also what I thought would be true, having had six Diezel heads since 2009.

Another issue is the amount of people messaging me now asking if I want the Archon they have. Seems damn near impossible to resell right now, so many are offering them up, Like 8 of them.

I can already see there is no way Id spend more than $900 on one at this rate.

The recto/Uber combo seems accurate to me also. The only Diezel comp I heard was from mailman here. I believe he was talking about ch 3 VH4 and got that tone with an eq in the Archon loop.

Nice, thanks for all the food for thought RT dudes, much appreciated.

Something I don’t understand here ... so n so says hey can this amp sound like that amp ?
If you want a particular sound buy that amp because everything else is just second rate. You don’t buy oranges to make an apple pie, so don’t buy an archon to get a diezel sound.
