are Jackson Pro Soloist SL2Q any good?

Never played a Jackson before but visiting family and see one local for $850 but Reverb suggests they can go as low as $450.

Been debating adding a more metal oriented guitar so I can stop down tuning my Les Paul, also this looks like a Fender spec neck which is my preference.

Are Indonesian Jacksons from 2018 worth it?
 
I gave up on Chinese and IndoChinese guitars years ago. Doesn’t mean you can’t find a good one but quality is a big gamble. I buy guitars like I buy cars. American and Japanese.

What kind of issues have you run into with them?

Given it's used I'm already expecting the finish to have imperfections, so really it's a question of needing a setup or fretwork?

Not sure what else to look for/expect out of an Indonesia. I have guitars from Korea/Japan/America that have all been great, but maybe just lucky so far...
 
Cheaper parts used = tolerance imperfection. Materials used: Frets, pickups, wood type, tuners, nut etc. ok
In general; cheap price is cheap materials. Again. You might find a good one but you could spend a bunch of money getting there. It’s a gamble. Brick and mortar guitars stores are key to go play everything then you reduce the hassle of returns.. ie reverb
 
I wouldn't hesitate except for the price. I don't think in the case of the Pro series that there are cut corners outside of the FR1000, which unfortunately has become more of a standard than a cut corner. I've had plenty of Pro and X models (step below) from Cort Indonesia that have been stellar. One was a bit dead acoustically/sustain-wise, though. A good source for Jackson deals is proaudiostar, imo. Might want to have a look first or at least use it as a bargaining chip.
 
For reference I have an LTD EC-1000 which is Korean I think, would Indonesia be noticably worse?

I had one of those and it was good. Smelled like smoke though. Had to offload it for that reason

I have both Indo and Korean ESP/LTD's currently, and they're tough to tell apart quality-wise. But that might be an ESP thing. The Jacksons I've had recently were mostly Mexi or Indo. Kinda of a toss up, with a slight nod to the Maxi made guitars in terms of finishing details on hardware, but the paint etc was a horse a piece. I haven't had a Chinese one that I recall, but I think I purposely avoid those. The Korean-made Jeff Loomis Kelly I had was noticeably better as far as fit-n-finish go, but I HATED the pickups, and ash is not my favorite either. I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. That said, the Jackson guitars weren't quite on the level that the comparable ESP stuff is in my experience.
 
I bought one of the newer Jackson Pro series DKA HH Floyd Rose 1000 in Metallic Black with the SS frets and SD pickups..other than 1 of the tuning keys being screwed up I always replace them anyway it has been one of the best playing an sounding guitars I have had in a while...It's a Made in China model.
I had an Indo SL2Q in Translucent Blue that I sold like an idiot..it was an 2018 year model pre-pandemic when their quality and craftsmanship seemed much better.
