Are our rigs proportionate to our talent?

when I was young, driven, passionate and playing all the time I didn't have the money for much of the gear I really wanted.

Now I have money for most of the gear I want, I no longer have youth, drive or passion, and my playing isn't as good as it was.

A trick of fate.

I have the passion but more pain in the tendons, back and legs. My bandmates are younger than me (drummer is 15 years younger) and I don't think he realizes what it feels like for someone like me to do a gig.
