I saw one locally for $400. Quilt top. No case though. I know they are the cheaper ones, but I have never played one. Thanks for the input.

I had a wolfgang exp special..the one made in korea...sold it....it actually was ok for the price...not sure if that's the one you are talking about......BUT....playing it compared to the USA wolfgang...i thought the USA one sounded quite a bit better and did play better...I will say though that the korean wolfie special i had...I had to TRY and make it go out of tune...peavey licensed floyd on it...but the one i had was rock solid and stayed in tune..

Are the pickups different than the Standard wolfie?

The Quilt Top Specials are made in Korea and don't hold a candle to the USA Specials or Standards. They're OK for the money, but not in the same league as far as playability.

I honestly never A/B'd two wolfgangs....like I said..the Wolfie I had was the Korean EXP special...it was ok for the money...but didn't sound as good as the USA wolfgangs and USA wolfgang specials.....not sure if pickups were the same but i kinda doubt they are....i will say that the pickup in the Korean wolf special were harmonically rich and I wasn't dissapointed by it. It delivered some 80's tones for sure

Thanks guys....Good to know there were US models and Korea model specials. This is quilt so it must be the exp. Thanks for lookin out!

USA Peavey Wolfgang Specials are still one of the best guitar deals on the used market

I had a USA Special a few years back. Like a dumbass, I sold it in a fit of GAS. Great guitar.
