Are the Gibson 80s Tribute humbuckers any good?

What's the word on these? Scooped, mid-forward, warm, bright, saturated, dry, dynamic, compressed? Do they have that aggressive mid grind that's characteristic of Gibson's high output humbuckers?

Only thing I've really been able to find is someone on Reddit saying they're hotter than the 500T and sound like a more balanced Duncan Distortion, but I'm looking for some more trusted opinions.

If they managed to capture any amount of the magic of vintage high output humbuckers like old Dirty Fingers, that would be pretty cool

I have them in a Gibson Victory and absolutely love them. Only guitar I have never even considered swapping pups. They do have some of that mid grind but are not harsh in any way. Oddly, I had the 70's Tributes in a V and found them kind of dark/muddy.......like a JB to my ears anyway. There are rumors that they are the same but doesn't remotely sound like it to my ears. Could be the different guitars though.

Awesome, I was asking since I'm also eyeing a Victory. Are there any pickups they remind you of? And do you think they'd hold up with low tunings like B standard?

They might. I briefly had the 80’s Explorer reissue (returned it) and liked the pickups. Hot and cutting but not low end heavy. Not anemic but more focused towards mids and top end without being honky or sizzly (depending on amp). They might for this reason be a good candidate for low tunings to keep them a little more tight.

I had a 80's V with those pickups. Didn't care at all for the bridge but the neck pickup was great!
