Are V4 and V5 Cathode Followers on the Herbert?

Interesting. I had Tung-Sols in there the past few weeks, and AFAIK, they can't handle the voltages very well, so I imagine they'll be dying anytime soon.

I'm going to take them out and swap them for some Penta 12AX7's, but that aside, the amp could not have been damaged, could it?

I don't know why people don't just play the amps like we made them and once tubes "NEED" to be replaced then take things from there. This is no slagging of the OP in any way but we have tried all the options out there and made the amps the way we do for a reason. I think it would save a lot of people a lot of grief in the long run. Just my $.02

But it seems my preamp tubes are next...I am now hearing static while I play... :aww:
 
I swapped em out because my amp arrived with 3 microphonic tubes, and I didn't think it was worth the trouble to get replacements through warranty given the fact that I have dozens of tubes in my stash.
 
dont worry bro, tungsol last for I while. I use them. they drive the amps nicely IMO
