I saw the band the other night on the 3rd date of their new US tour. It was an awesome show!! That band is so tight and they have great chemistry together and really look like they are just doing it just for the fun of it. Sorry i didn't get any pictures of Guthries gear etc. There was a whole bunch of dudes taking pics of his pedals and gear. He played 2 different Charvels which he switched back and forth after almost every song, and i think a Friedman Browneye. They played the entire new album 'tres caballeros' and some older tunes at the end. Also the drum solo was probably one of the best i have ever heard, and to see it from ten feet away in a club was incredible. But as expected the place was full of dudes and bros and musicians of course, dudes in the front row filming everything zooming in and out trying to catch every note. I just stood back and enjoyed the music, does anyone do that anymore? And my wife was just blown away too, i am a lucky guy!!
We had a drink at the bar and eventually most people left and i got to say hello to Guthrie and have him sign my cd. He was very nice and soft spoken, wished i could have chatted with him more but i didn't want to overdo it. So if you all get a chance you should definitely check them out if they come to a town near you!!

I'm so excited for this! Guthrie and his gang of wackos are on the way to michigan the end of this month, and i can't wait. Have had my tickets since they announced the tour.

Aristocrats are my jams... Begin the abuse of my guthrie discography

He's just beyond unreal. You watch him and think, man, that dudes hands look like they're about to cramp up, and he barely uses his pinky. But you listen and he's just SO freakin' good. Everything he plays sounds so amazing. I've bought some of his jam track sessions and even with the tab, I can't figure out what he's thinking in his head or narrow down his approach. He really is incredible. :worship:

Guthrie is something. I have a demo tape of his that I got in 93. It has the original version of waves and a bunch of other tunes on there that are all killer. His chops were just as good back then and the songs were way better than most instrumental stuff out there. I remember reading somewhere that he stopped using his pinky as much to make things a bit more of a challenge.

Love these guys. Looking forward to the album.

They are coming to Phoenix (Mesa) at the end of August.

So Guthrie switch his amp to Friedman BE-100!!!! hope to see a clip of the Band soon....

Just to clear it up, his Victory amp had an issue at soundcheck in San Francisco on the 2nd night of the tour. He borrowed a Friedman to use for the show. He used it for a couple of shows until they could repair the Victory. They had no time to inspect the amp, so the issue could have been minor, who knows. He is now back to playing the Victory.

PS Incredible band....more "in the moment" of any band you will see live. My absolute favorite live band.

How long after doors open and opening act until they have gone on stage to guys who's gone?

Doors open at 7:00 tonight.

I saw them in 2013. No opening act. Doors opened around 7 and they didn't come on til near 11:00. They waited til the bitter end.

Holy fuck that's ridiculous. That's some Axl Rose shit.

It was kind of a bar though. If you go by the stage opening it was still probably 2 hours. It was cool though. I'd see them again but they didn't come to a Florida this time.

Just got in after seeing them at Reggie's in Chicago. Unfuckingbelievable...Truly jaw dropping...Those guys are freaks. I wonder if any of them have ever thrown a baseball, or ridden a bicycle, or seen a vagina, or have done anything besides practice.  Reggie's IMO is one of the best venues in Chicago, and the sound was absolutely pristine. It sounded as clear as a CD being played through the sound system. In fact, it sounded better due to the power and percussion of live amplified instruments. Guthrie was playing through his Victory amp, not that it matters what he plays through with his abilities, but I can't imagine anything sounding better than what he had going on. I defy anyone to name a drummer that does a cooler, more entertaining solo than Minneman. Beller's playing and tone were also stellar. These guys are a must see for any musician.

Funny you should say that. Ed Yoon once posted on the Suhr forum that Guthrie has never ridden a bicycle or driven a car. In Guthrie's own words he stated that when he was young he liked to play guitar and read books. I doubt he was ever obsessed with pussy either as is the case with a lot of people myself included. Tough to focus on things with visions of poontang dancing through your brain.

I swear I've never heard that about him. That's hilarious. I might have really been somebody if I wasn't thinking about the almighty V 90% of my waking hours....
