I think there's a lot of great signature gear but other than a Les Paul (which I don't really consider sig gear) I wouldn't want to play it on stage, though I'm thinking mostly guitars in that sense. Whenever I see someone with a petrucci sig or wolfgang etc. I instantly think dream theater or evh fanboi. Granted most non-guitar players probably wouldn't even realize that so it's mostly me but it is what it is.
Agreed. I try and stay away from Artist endorsed gear.

Gear I prefer would be Gibson LP, Fender Strats, Fender Tele, Bogner, Marshall and Mesa. Alot of artist I like play these but don't like their names on them. I know some will say that the manufactures names are the same…

The EBMM Luke I had killed, I should never have sold it...

I really dislike the whole signature model thing.... It makes me avoid the gear completely. When using the gear I certainly do not sound like the endorser ?

yeah but what if you just so happen to like the same things they like?

i played les pauls signature guitar for years, and i never expected to sound like him. ;)
Agree Jim .... I play a LP more than anything else myself. Les was working for Gibson & built & designed them / So that is different than most signature gear. Several pieces of my gear I was there when it was designed & developed or was slightly modified by the original builder for my taste & I had input on the whole thing so I guess in a way I have my own. What I was really thinking about was people like Dave Mustaine that puts his name on anything / everything. The amps & other gear EVH has put his name on has always been very good. So like all gear ... it varies.

This is the exact reason I don't mind buying signature gear. I don't want to sound like someone else.

The truth is it is only a marketing tool .... and little more than that... :)

Also, unless I'm playing something obvious like a Zakk Wylde Les Paul, or the SRV Strat, no one aside from somebody with a really discerning eye is going to know I'm playing an Eric Johnson Strat. Aside from the staggered tuners, it looks like a blonde '57 Strat. I like signature guitars as long as they're classy looking. I still remember the first time I saw the Jeff Beck Ronnie Scott concert. I thought the aged Olympic White and Rosewood board looked awesome. I'd really like a Clapton Strat in Olympic White, but he has those sucky little frets on it and I refuse to buy a guitar that needs to be modified from the get go.

I have an EBMM Axis, a Peavey Wolfgang, a Peavey 5150 head, an EVH Flanger, EVH Phase 90, and EVH wah

They all live up to the hype to me

Will Ray G&L sig model....
There was no hype but by god its a belter ;)

Stuff I can vouch for:

- Marshall JVM 410HJS Joe Satriani Amplifier
- Bareknuckle Rebel Yell Pickups (Steve Stevens)

Friedman SS100, haven't played one but everything I've heard sounds crazy good!

And the Jemini pedal.

I waited months to get it.only person in my area to get one.only one my local store ever got.
What a disappointment.sold it.

That Jemini pedal is a POS. Utter crap tone.

I've always been a fan of the Peavey Wolfgang. The neck, the frets, the pickups, they all work for me. Not a huge fan of the body shape but I've gotten used to it.

I also have a Jackson PC-1 and a Washburn N4. I gutted the electronics on the PC-1 the sustainer wasnt for me. So far the N4 is stock but the Bill Lawrence bridge pickup is very bright... I might throw a Tone Zone in it...

Washburn N4
EVH Wolfgang
Majik Box Doug Aldrich Rocket Fuel
Ibanez Jem

The ESP Snakebite feels and sounds amazing. But I'm a sucker for every Explorer style guitar.

I've had great experience with ESP sigs in general (Alexi, Kamikaze, Hammett, and Hanneman). Whether I like the artist or not is incidental, I just tend to like the looks of these more than a lot of the standard ESP's we typically get in the US. And yeah, 5153 all the way.

Most popular guitar - JEM (lives up to the hype)
Most popular amp - 5150 I/II/III (lives up to the hype)

Cheers, Lucius

Oh yeah, baby!!!!

I think most of the EVH stuff is a great value. I use to play a peavey wolfgang special. An American made guitar for $375. I know that was a great deal but still. That guitar would hold it's own with my other guitars that were way more expensive. And I didn't think of it as a VH guitar. It was just another guitar. I think the peavey 5150's are great to. Not just because of the price. They sound great. The new fender stuff as well. They are pretty good deals.
