Well I’m terms of the OP, there is a difference between seeking asylum and just illegally entering. Asylum is the “loophole” so to speak.
But also to expand on that, the “loopholes” for the rich are only legal because we allow it. If tax revenue was really a concern, tightening down in the wealthy would be much more effective than taxing immigrant labor

if they follow the requirements for asylum and don't break any laws, I'd agree with you. However, the vast majority cross the border illegally first, then apply for asylum...which should automatically disqualify them IMO
