Have made the Duncan 59/Custom hybrid. Interesting sound.

Also have a couple of High Order versions of this style pickup. Seems to have both single-coil and HB'er qualities.

Who else makes these ?

Any you'd recommend ?
 
MANY winders. they are cool ,its like having two resonant peaks BUT they can reintroduce some hum. i have some from MCP< manlius ,and bareknuckle.

Yep. Even the big brands like Seymour Duncan will hand-wind or "unequally balance" the winds on pups per request - if you have an insider there... Easy enough to find and I've got someone in house that'll do customs. Otherwise, Arcane - BKP - MCP - WCR/JWP - they'll all do unbalanced winds on request. I dig unbalanced, same as the PI slot preamp tube - balanced isn't always the way to go - conflicting wave signals can offer breadth, depth, grind and character, and we don't even realize it's because of things "not" being perfect.

I'll save the tangent but it always makes me think of Matchless amps, SRVs tube selection, and one of the sonic secrets of Dumble's builds.

Now isn't that because Dimarzio holds a patent on asymmetric coils ?

It has to be kept on the down-low if someone builds one. :confused:

Lace and Bareknuckle both publicly advertise a few of their models being asymmetrically (or mismatched) wound.
