AT the crossroads. Diezel VH4 or Axe FX ultra???

The only safe answer is to get both and run the Axe 4 cable method

The Diezel is nice I'm sure. But it's just an amp. The Axe is just a rack unit. But the Axe just sounds so good and offers so much that it can never be a wrong move to go from a single tube amp and a dozen pedals, to the Axe. The Axe can get you the Diezel tone and so much more. Still I understand being tied to an amp. It's an emotional one. Not a practical one.

You've got the amp, you've got what you consider a wicked pedalboard... Why are ya getting eaten alive by GAS?!?!? It's not going to make you a better player, and I say this because I've suffered from GAS way too many times. I get the product after my exciting wait, and then it typically just blends into the landscape of what I was doing before I had it anyway... As Lemmy once sang, "you know the chase, is better than the catch...".

Just my 2 cents.

+1 lived it, once you get over it you will find your playing will get better and the equipment you have will sound better along the process.

V is a smart guy IMHO!

Thanks Braddah... Just speaking from the heart, and from experience. Here's my take on the Axe FX, it offers a lot...SO many variables...SO many aspects and facets... But is that really what ya want?? I mean, most of us all talk about our fave guitarists in the sense of those guitarists' personal and infamous tone. They have a unique and independent tone, not 1000 tones. I think focusing on limited resources and making the best of what ya have is what makes us unique and special, in the sense of tone, style and sound. I foresee a lot of cats getting this unit (Axe FX) and spending more time tweaking it, and less time playing, than I do just a straight up tube amp. Sure, you can EMULATE the players of your choice, and the cabs of your choice, and the heads of your choice, but really, the KISS rule always wins - Keep It Simple Stupid.

It's all personal preference, no right or wrong, but I betcha we'll be seeing a slimmed down version of technology in the next couple of years...it's just the cyclical nature of the beast. Back to another iteration of grunge, dirty-simple, less processing, more pure...

Keep the Diezel.

You will end up selling the Ax and going back to a tube amp. Most people will. History repeats itself.

Thats one of my concerns too.....going around in a big circle.
But I guess its the only way to know if you like it or not. ;)

I did it with amps. I started on old Marshalls and in the last 10 years I've had various Soldanos, various ENGL's, various Mesa's and modern Marshalls, a slew of Fenders and others I can't remember right now. Dozens of amps.

What do I have now? I'm back to old Marshalls. Same amps I started on.
