Do you stop playing nice and call someone out on their "matter of fact" bs? Let's say for example that you're highly knowledgeable regarding a particular subject, and someone keeps speaking about it as if they're an expert, though it's obvious that their knowledge goes about as far as a couple of wiki articles and a half hour documentary hosted by Morgan Freeman. They also tend to bring out the thesaurus to come off as more intelligent and/or credible than they are. Do you continue to play along and remain silent? Just laugh it off and let them keep making themself look like an ass? What's the proper etiquette without coming off like a bitch or worse a "matter of fact know it all," too?

My daughters friends dad is a know it all.
Will even google answers to prove his point. Then talk down to me.
I push back somewhat but avoid the arguments to keep the peace.

For instance. He says he didn't vote for Biden. He voted against Trump

I tell him he should have just stayed home. Look at the mess he made

Then he tells me its good the migrants are coming in.
They'll do the work Americans wont.

I tell him why should our taxes pay for it.
Theres of them enough here already to work.
Just adding to the unemployment numbers

Goes on and on like that

Yeah, but in the particular instance with this individual it would be like me telling you that the distributor on your mach one is at the front of the engine for hood clearance. Then I continue by going on some rant about why you should put a GM 10 bolt rear end in your car instead of your 9", because 10 > 9. Does that makes sense? But yes, agreed the "talking down to" part is probably the worst aspect of it all.

The only person I trust is my guitar.

Did you add ribs to the volume knob for your pleasure?
That's a funny story..

I saw those traction knobs on the Dimesheep guitars, so I called Dean and asked if I could order them. Dude chuckled and hung up.

I made those for my guitars using a soldering iron and an SMD component tip.

Looks like it came out pretty even.
What's going on with the strap button leather spacer looking piece?

Yeah, I actually hobbled together a jig to keep it even, doing it by hand like that.

I first thought they were done by a machine, but after that dude hung up on me I looked at some hi-res images online and could tell it was simply done with a soldering iron by hand - little imperfections in the pattern, and all.

I thought maybe you picked up some fab happy o-rings at McMaster and grabbed the super glue.

That's one of the things Ibanez really did well; the Sure Grip knobs.

IMHO the answer's as easy as it could get sis':

Give your best evidence and ask the other party to provide his or hers.
If no hint of movement from either side is apparent, say that you're obviously not going to reach consensus on the matter, reminding him or her that you've both given it a red-hot go, and move on to something else.

I wish it were that easy, tbh.
They just like to hear themself talk, I think?
Fortunately, none of it is medical advice :ROFLMAO:
