The purpose of a passive is to use a Matrix or Atomic or Fryette style poweramp. I've got a 2/90/2, but I've already signed up on the reserve list for 2 active wedges.
Not yet. If you do some research, Jay and Tom put a YT vid out there at the beginning of this year talking about its power rating, weight, and so forth - but these were just for the prototypes. At this point, we know it's 600W power handling, and the real specs are coming in the next day or so. They're using their FB site as the Atomic website is getting a total overhaul and will be up and running inside this month. I spoke with Tom a week or so ago - and knew of the launch today, but the specs are still forthcoming. I'm stoked.Rezamatix":2fa07b6i said:Is there somewhere other than Facebook for more intel?
Agreed. I've got a lot of faith in Atomic - they've been there since the beginning.jcj":2fa07b6i said:Tom has always been good by me; glad to see this come together![]()
You know, AS I TYPED MY REPLY I was sitting there mentally going "the guy knows exactly wtf the passive is for and how it works ya doofus, why the hell are you typing this". So for this, I apologize, and will deliver one swift, well weighted punch to my nutsack this evening in retribution. I hope that serves as a humble enough apology.Shark Diver":2fa07b6i said:Ventura":2fa07b6i said:CLR is an acronym for "Coincident Linear Response" speaker.

I get that, it would just seem at that point you would want a real guitar speaker because you are using a real amp. So, are you running a cab sim but not an amp sim? Because if the passives have the same speaker as the actives then they are made to be used with IRs. Just seems like a small market at that point. Most guys would already have cabs if they are getting an amp to use. At least that was my experience while at TM. But whatever. I think the look and familiarity of the throw of square cabs will be a big plus for guys that are missing that now.

It did, however, make a lot of sense to people not wanting to cut the tube-driven umbilical cord. Hey, it's all good. They're in the mix now with what I feel to be exceptionally well priced models and Jay and Tom know their shit. Not to mention, first class customer care. I'm pumped!ratter":1zks2m2f said:Wish these were around when I had an 11R. The tube-powered Atomics never made sense to me.

Completely concur. And they're built from the ground up to be modeler monitors for guitarists. Unlike so many of the monitors out there that just HAPPEN to work well with, say, the A2. I'm stoked.ratter":2a6co7oc said:They look great and the price isn't horrible. One of coolest looking wedges I've seen.
Far from useless. I agree with all your points - 100%.Gainfreak":11ov0dlr said:Just my useless 0.02

$999 Active - either wedge or cab.
Hi Dave! The Atomic Reactor Series stuff always offered both active and passive versions of both the wedges and cabs. The actives are much more popular (IMHO the way to go for a variety of reasons) but there has always been a market for the passives. Since we're not offering a tube powered version we were especially conscious about people who really wanted this option.Shark Diver":1cbrb2br said:Aesthetically I think they will be cool for the Axe Fx guys. Interesting to see how they will fair tone wise. Don't even see the point of a passive cab though. At the point you would use a Matrix or other power amp it would seem a regular cab would give you the look, feel and tone people like from a cab.
What does CLR stand for? Clear?
