my hotplate line out sounds really bad, very muddy, dark, etc. the preamp out of my JVM or 5150 does sound better. but i want to capture the whole amp

is there any load box out there with a line out that have great tone?

rivera? weber?

I hear good things about the Palmer PGA-04 / PDI-03, and THD Hotplate too...

There are two types of line-outs. One with a cab sim and one without. The Palmers have a cab sim filter on them. This would be a good all-in-one box to act as a load and provide a speaker simulation filter.

I ended up going for the line out without a cab sim. If you are going into a daw you can apply a software cab sim using impulses. The quality of the impulses out there is excellent! And it opens up many tonal options with the different cabs and mics that have been sampled.

I have a Palmer PDI-09. Same as the PDI-03, without the load. Very convenient, but the impulses and software cab sim became the preferred route for me.

Long story short, Palmer of you want an all-in-one box. The Rivera Rock Crusher looks good as a line-out box with no cab sim built in.

yeah i dont neeed with cab sim filter

also 8ohms will be good

The palmer pdi03 offers both filtered and 4 line outs with an 8 ohm load box..

Another vote for the rock crusher, I never play without it anymore.

The ALex isn't a LOAD BOX with a line out though , unless he changed it. It's an attenuator with a line out , and yep it's great!

If you are using the Hotplate on the load setting, the eq switches run reversed. So if you use the hotplate for attenuation and use those switches, when going to load they will be off.
